Installation Guide

Centinela is available as both a web application and a native desktop application. This guide covers installation of the desktop application, which offers enhanced performance and offline capabilities.

The web version requires no installation - simply navigate to your Centinela URL in any modern browser. This guide is for users who want to install the native desktop application.

System Requirements

Before installing, ensure your system meets these requirements:

Minimum Requirements

Windows
macOS
Linux

OS: Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended
Disk Space: 500 MB free space
Display: 1024x768 minimum resolution
Internet: Broadband connection for real-time data

For optimal experience, we recommend a monitor with at least 1920x1080 resolution when viewing process diagrams and multiple charts simultaneously.

Desktop Application Overview

The Centinela desktop application is built with Tauri, providing:

Installation Methods

Option 1: Web Access (No Installation)

The simplest way to use Centinela:

Open Your Browser

Launch any modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)

Navigate to Centinela

Enter your Centinela instance URL (provided by your administrator)Example: https://centinela.yourcompany.com

Enter your credentials and start monitoring

We recommend bookmarking the URL for quick access

Web access requires a modern browser:

Chrome 90+
Firefox 88+
Safari 14+
Edge 90+

Option 2: Desktop Application Installation

For the best experience, install the native desktop application:

Windows Desktop App

Download the Installer

Download the .msi installer from your administrator or the Centinela releases page.File format: Mas-Agua_1.0.4_x64_en-US.msi

Run the Installer

Double-click the downloaded .msi file
If prompted by Windows SmartScreen, click “More info” then “Run anyway”
Follow the installation wizard
Choose installation directory (default: C:\Program Files\Mas Agua)
Click “Install” to begin installation

You may need administrator privileges to install. Right-click the installer and select “Run as administrator” if needed.

Launch the Application

Find “Mas Agua” in your Start Menu
Or double-click the desktop shortcut (if created during installation)
The application window will open at 1024x768 and maximize automatically

First Launch Setup

On first launch:

The app will check for updates automatically
Enter your server connection details (if not pre-configured)
Login with your credentials

Troubleshooting Windows Installation

Installation blocked by Windows Defender

If Windows Defender blocks the installation:

Click “More info” on the SmartScreen prompt
Click “Run anyway”
This is normal for new applications without widespread distribution

Missing .NET or Visual C++ Runtime

The installer may require:

.NET Framework 4.7.2 or later
Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022

These are usually included, but can be downloaded from Microsoft if needed.

macOS Desktop App

Download the DMG

Download the .dmg file from your administrator or the Centinela releases page.File format: Mas-Agua_1.0.4_universal.dmg

Open the DMG

Double-click the downloaded .dmg file
A new window will open showing the application

Install the Application

Drag the “Mas Agua” icon to your Applications folder
Wait for the copy to complete
Eject the DMG by clicking the eject button in Finder

Launch the Application

Open your Applications folder
Double-click “Mas Agua”
If you see a security warning (“Mas Agua is from an unidentified developer”):
- Right-click the app
- Select “Open”
- Click “Open” in the confirmation dialog
- This only needs to be done once

macOS Gatekeeper may block the first launch. Use the right-click method above to bypass this security check.

Troubleshooting macOS Installation

App is damaged and can't be opened

This error can occur due to Gatekeeper quarantine. Fix it with:

xattr -cr "/Applications/Mas Agua.app"

Then try opening the app again.

Allow app in System Preferences

If the app won’t open:

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy
Click the “General” tab
You should see a message about “Mas Agua”
Click “Open Anyway”

Linux Desktop App

Centinela provides multiple Linux package formats:

# Download the .deb file
wget https://your-server.com/mas-agua_1.0.4_amd64.deb

# Install using apt
sudo apt install ./mas-agua_1.0.4_amd64.deb

# Or using dpkg
sudo dpkg -i mas-agua_1.0.4_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f  # Install dependencies if needed

Choose Your Package Format

Select the appropriate package for your distribution:

Debian/Ubuntu: .deb package
Fedora/RHEL/openSUSE: .rpm package
Other distributions: .AppImage (universal)

Install Dependencies

Most dependencies are bundled, but you may need:

# Debian/Ubuntu
sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 libgtk-3-0

# Fedora
sudo dnf install webkit2gtk3 gtk3

Launch the Application

After installation:

Find “Mas Agua” in your application menu
Or run from terminal: mas-agua
For AppImage: Execute the file directly

Linux Desktop Integration

The .deb and .rpm packages automatically create desktop entries. AppImage users may want to manually create a desktop shortcut.

Create a desktop entry for AppImage:

Auto-Update Configuration

The desktop application includes automatic update functionality:

Automatic Check

The app checks for updates automatically on startup

Update Notification

If an update is available, you’ll see a dialog prompting you to update

Download and Install

Click “Update” to download and install the latest version

Updates are downloaded from: https://github.com/CspmIT/mas-agua-front/releases/latest

Restart

The app will restart automatically after the update is installed

Do not close the application while an update is being installed. Wait for the automatic restart.

Configuration

First-Time Setup

After installation, configure your connection:

Server Configuration

If not pre-configured, enter your server details:

API endpoint URL
WebSocket server (for real-time data)
InfluxDB connection (configured by administrator)

Authentication

Verify Connection

The app will test connectivity and load your facility configuration

The desktop app stores data locally:

Uninstallation

To remove the desktop application:

Windows Uninstall

Method 1: Settings App

Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps
Find “Mas Agua” in the list
Click the three dots menu
Select “Uninstall”
Confirm the uninstallation

Method 2: Control Panel

Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Find “Mas Agua”
Right-click and select “Uninstall”
Follow the uninstall wizard

macOS Uninstall

Open Finder and navigate to Applications
Find “Mas Agua”
Drag it to the Trash (or right-click > Move to Trash)
Empty the Trash

Remove all app data (optional):

rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/com.masagua.desktop
rm -rf ~/Library/Caches/com.masagua.desktop

Linux Uninstall

Debian/Ubuntu:

sudo apt remove mas-agua

Fedora/RHEL:

sudo dnf remove mas-agua

AppImage:

# Simply delete the AppImage file
rm Mas-Agua_1.0.4_amd64.AppImage

# Remove desktop entry if created
rm ~/.local/share/applications/mas-agua.desktop

Remove all app data (optional):

Web Application

No installation required

Quick access
Multiple devices

Desktop Application

Advantages:

Better performance
Native OS integration
Optimized resource usage
Automatic updates

Best for:

Primary workstation
Daily monitoring
Power users

Both versions access the same data and have identical features. Choose based on your workflow preference.

Troubleshooting

Application won't start

Possible solutions:

Check system requirements are met
Verify antivirus isn’t blocking the app
Check logs for error messages:
- Windows: %APPDATA%\com.masagua.desktop\logs
- macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/com.masagua.desktop/logs
- Linux: ~/.config/com.masagua.desktop/logs
Reinstall the application

Connection errors

Check the following:

Verify internet connection is active
Confirm server URL is correct
Check firewall isn’t blocking the application
Test web version to isolate desktop-specific issues
Contact administrator to verify server status

Updates failing

Solutions:

Ensure you have write permissions to installation directory
Temporarily disable antivirus during update
Check available disk space (need at least 500 MB)
Download and install latest version manually if auto-update fails

Display or rendering issues

Try these fixes:

Update graphics drivers
Restart the application
Clear application cache:
- Close the app
- Delete cache folder (see “Application Data Storage” above)
- Restart the app
Check display scaling settings (recommended: 100%)

Network Requirements

The desktop application requires outbound connections to:

API Server: HTTPS (port 443) for data access
WebSocket Server: WSS (port 443) for real-time updates
Update Server: GitHub releases (for auto-updates)

Ensure your firewall allows outbound HTTPS connections. The application will not function properly if blocked.
