Alexis Galarza is a full stack web developer with over two years of professional experience building products for a technology startup. This page covers his technical skill set, the educational programs that shaped his development career, and the personal journey that brought him from mechanical technician to software engineer.

Technical skills

Alexis works across the full stack, from database design to frontend interfaces. His skills span eight categories:

JavaScript / TypeScript

Core languages for both frontend and backend development. TypeScript is used extensively for type safety in Node.js and React projects.
Server-side JavaScript runtime and the NestJS framework for building scalable, modular backend APIs.
Frontend frameworks covering component-based SPAs (React), content-focused static sites (Astro), and hybrid server-side rendering (Next.js).
Container-based deployment with Docker alongside relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and document-oriented storage (MongoDB).
ORM tooling for type-safe database access and schema management in TypeScript projects.
Markup and styling fundamentals, with utility-first (Tailwind) and component-based (Bootstrap) CSS frameworks.
Version control, collaborative development workflows, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
Iterative project management using SCRUM ceremonies and practices, simulating real-world team environments.
Alexis also has hands-on experience with testing tools such as Jest and Cypress, and always aims to apply clean code practices and adapt to emerging technologies.

Education

Alexis completed two structured programs in 2022, totalling over 1,000 hours of training in full stack Java and web development.

Bootcamp MindHub LA

Technologies covered: Java, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, PostgreSQL, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 5.

Oracle + Alura Latam — ONE Program

Technologies covered: Java, JDBC, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3.

Background

Beyond his programming background, Alexis is a qualified mechanical technician with experience in the metallurgical and mechanical sectors. A few years ago he made a deliberate decision to pivot his career — recognising that his previous work was limiting his professional growth. He chose to focus entirely on software development, a transition that has opened up broader opportunities and fuelled a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies.
Alexis values teamwork and clear communication, while also maintaining the autonomy and experience required to tackle complex tasks independently.
