Termix supports installation as a Progressive Web App (PWA), letting you add it to your home screen or app launcher on any platform without going through an app store. The PWA uses exactly the same web interface as the browser version and connects to your self-hosted Termix server, so all your hosts, credentials, and settings are available immediately after installation.

Supported platforms

The PWA works on any platform that runs a modern browser, including:
  • iOS / iPadOS — Safari
  • Android — Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox
  • Windows — Chrome, Edge
  • macOS — Chrome, Edge, Safari
  • Linux — Chrome, Chromium, Edge
PWA installation support varies by browser. Chrome and Edge provide the most consistent install experience across all desktop and Android platforms. On iOS, installation is only supported through Safari.

How to install

Open Termix in your browser

Navigate to your Termix server URL in Chrome or Edge.

Open the install prompt

Look for the install icon in the address bar (a monitor with a download arrow), or open the browser menu and select Install app or Add to Home Screen.

Confirm installation

Click Install in the dialog that appears. Termix will open in its own window and be added to your app launcher or Start Menu.
Once installed, the PWA opens without browser chrome (no address bar or tabs), giving you a cleaner, more app-like experience. It launches directly to your Termix server.

PWA vs. native apps

The PWA is the quickest way to get a home screen shortcut on any device. If you want deeper platform integration — such as system notifications or offline capability — consider the desktop app or mobile app instead.
