VIP2CARS enables you to manage a complete inventory of vehicles and their relationships with clients. Each vehicle must be associated with a registered client.

Viewing All Vehicles

To view your vehicle inventory:

Navigate to Vehicles

From the main dashboard, click on Vehículos in the navigation menu.

Browse Vehicle List

You’ll see a complete list of all registered vehicles along with their associated client information.
The vehicle list displays each vehicle with its associated client information, making it easy to see the complete relationship between vehicles and their owners.

Creating a New Vehicle

To add a new vehicle to your system:

Access Creation Form

Click the Create or New Vehicle button on the vehicles list page.

Fill in Vehicle Details

Complete all required fields in the registration form:
  • Placa (License Plate): Unique vehicle license plate number
  • Marca (Brand): Vehicle manufacturer (e.g., Toyota, Honda, Ford)
  • Modelo (Model): Vehicle model name
  • Año de Fabricación (Year of Manufacture): 4-digit year (e.g., 2024)
  • Cliente (Client): Select the vehicle owner from the dropdown list

Select the Client

From the Cliente dropdown, choose the client who owns this vehicle. The dropdown displays the client’s full name and document number for easy identification.

Submit the Form

Click the Guardar (Save) button to create the vehicle record.

Confirmation

Upon successful creation, you’ll be redirected to the vehicles list with a success message: “Vehículo creado correctamente.”
All fields are required when creating a new vehicle. The license plate must be unique in the system, and you must have at least one registered client before adding a vehicle.

Validation Rules

When creating a vehicle, the following validation rules apply:
  • Placa: Required, must be unique across all vehicles
  • Marca: Required, maximum 255 characters
  • Modelo: Required, maximum 255 characters
  • Año de Fabricación: Required, must be a 4-digit number
  • Cliente: Required, must be an existing client ID
Before adding a vehicle, ensure the client is already registered in the system. If you need to add a vehicle for a new client, create the client record first.

Editing an Existing Vehicle

To update vehicle information:

Locate the Vehicle

From the vehicles list, find the vehicle you want to edit.

Access Edit Form

Click the Edit button next to the vehicle’s information.

Modify Information

Update any of the vehicle fields:
  • Placa (License Plate)
  • Marca (Brand)
  • Modelo (Model)
  • Año de Fabricación (Year of Manufacture)
  • Cliente (Owner)

Change Vehicle Owner (Optional)

If transferring ownership, select a different client from the dropdown menu. The list shows all registered clients with their names and document numbers.

Save Changes

Click Guardar (Save) to update the vehicle record, or Cancelar (Cancel) to discard changes.

Confirmation

You’ll be redirected to the vehicles list with a success message: “Vehículo actualizado correctamente.”
You can easily transfer vehicle ownership by changing the associated client in the edit form. This is useful for tracking vehicle sales or transfers between clients.

Deleting a Vehicle

To remove a vehicle from the system:

Find the Vehicle

Navigate to the vehicles list and locate the vehicle you want to delete.

Initiate Deletion

Click the Delete button next to the vehicle’s information.

Confirm Deletion

Confirm that you want to delete this vehicle record.

Completion

The vehicle will be removed from the system, and you’ll see a success message: “Vehículo eliminado correctamente.”
Deleting a vehicle is permanent. Make sure you have the correct vehicle selected before confirming deletion.

Understanding Vehicle-Client Relationships

VIP2CARS maintains a strong relationship between vehicles and clients:
A single client can own multiple vehicles. When viewing the client details, you can see all vehicles associated with that client.
Each vehicle must be associated with exactly one client at any given time. This ensures clear ownership records.
When you view the vehicles list, the system automatically displays the associated client information for each vehicle, eliminating the need to look up ownership separately.

Common Tasks

Use the edit function to change the vehicle’s associated client. Select the new owner from the Cliente dropdown and save your changes.
No, every vehicle must be associated with a registered client. If you need to add a vehicle for someone not in the system, create their client record first.
The system will prevent you from saving a vehicle with a license plate that already exists in the database. Each license plate must be unique.
Yes, client records are linked to their vehicles. The relationship allows you to view all vehicles owned by a particular client through the client management interface.
