Flancia is many things at once: a poem, a book, a place, a project, and a set of people working toward a shared vision. You can approach it from any of these angles and find something coherent. At its core, Flancia is a name for the world we could have — a hypothetical shared future in which conscious beings thrive together, reached through the incremental application of effort, cooperation, and care.Documentation Index

Flancia as a poem
The shortest version of Flancia is also a kind of poem — an invocation:Flancia, o por el bien de los seres sentientes! (Flancia, for the good of all sentient beings!)That line contains the whole project in compressed form. Flancia is for the good of all sentient beings. Everything else — the Agora, the manifesto, the collective, the code — is an attempt to move toward that.
Flancia as a place
Flancia is a place that exists in a hypothetical shared future. It is a protopia — not a sudden utopia that arrives all at once, but a world that has been made better through accumulated incremental improvements. The world of Flancia is described as similar to ours, shaped by the same material reality, but the result of sustained effort toward a better outcome. In Flancia:- There is no poverty.
- There is no privilege.
- We will meet.
Flancia is said to exist already — in a way — in the mind of anyone who holds the vision. “It exists, in a way — it exists in my mind,” as the original note puts it. You could say Flancia exists in the multiverse, and the task is to navigate toward it.
Flancia as a project
As a project, Flancia is the set of efforts aimed at making Flancia-as-place real. The Agora is the central tool: a distributed knowledge graph designed to help people with good intent find each other, share knowledge, and coordinate toward common goals. Flancia existed before the Agora, but is defined — in the limit — by how the Agora is put to use toward maximizing thriving for all conscious beings through the incremental unlocking of public utility and the practice of altruism. The Agora
The distributed knowledge graph that is Flancia’s primary tool for cooperative knowledge sharing.
Agora protocol
The lightweight plain-text protocol that makes the Agora interoperable across many gardens.
Community values
The contract and values that participants in this Agora agree to uphold.

The Agora of Flancia
In Flancia, there is an Agora. Finding an Agora means finding Flancia — or at least a path toward it. The reference Agora at anagora.org is run by the Flancia Collective, a group of people committed to the same vision. The Agora is open source, and anyone can run their own instance.Maps of Flancia are free. In the Agora of Flancia, the knowledge assembled there is available to everyone without cost or restriction.
Flancia as a book
Flancia is also an ongoing, unfinished book — “a draft, really,” as the source notes put it. Some working titles have been considered:- Flancia, or with a little help from my friends
- Flancia, or my favourite things
- Flancia, or building bridges
- Flancia, or an open letter to an open society
The Flancia Collective
The Flancia Collective is the group of people who run the reference Agora and contribute to the Flancia project. Flancian — the gardener behind this garden — is one of its members, and describes the project this way:“Through this Agora I try to contribute to the development of a freer, open, progressive global society and projects of public utility.”The collective’s work is in the open: the Agora code is on GitHub, the garden is public, and contributions of any kind are welcome.
