PC Caster is a general-purpose network relay tool that re-fetches HTTP resources and forwards them to devices on a local network. Its authors make no determination about the legality of any particular use — that responsibility falls entirely on the user. The tool was built for personal, lawful use of streams the user is already able to access in a browser.

Responsible use

PC Caster relays streams that your PC can already access in a browser — it does not unlock content that is otherwise inaccessible to you. Using it responsibly means:
  • Only access streams you are legally entitled to view. This includes streams you have a subscription to, streams from services you are licensed to use, or content in the public domain.
  • Comply with website terms of service. Many streaming sites prohibit automated access or re-broadcasting, even for personal use.
  • Comply with copyright law in your jurisdiction. Laws around recording, redistribution, and retransmission vary by country.
  • Do not redistribute streams. PC Caster is a point-to-point tool between your PC and your own TV on your own network.

What PC Caster does NOT do

PC Caster’s local proxy passes stream data through in real time — segments are fetched from the CDN and forwarded to the Roku as they are requested. Nothing is written to disk. The proxy has no buffering or recording capability.
PC Caster only handles streams that are already playable in a plain browser without a DRM license. It replicates the HTTP headers (Referer, Origin) and TLS fingerprint that the browser would send — it does not decrypt Widevine, PlayReady, FairPlay, or any other DRM-encrypted content. If a stream requires a DRM license to decode, PC Caster cannot play it.
The proxy re-fetches streams from the same IP address as your PC. It does not use a VPN, proxy server, or any technique to circumvent geographic restrictions. If a stream is blocked in your country, PC Caster will not unblock it.
Using PC Caster to access content you are not authorized to view may violate copyright law and website terms of service. The authors are not responsible for misuse.
