AWS CloudShell Tools is a lightweight collection of shell scripts that lets you instantly check or refresh the tooling inside any AWS CloudShell session. Run a single curl or wget command to display a full software inventory or upgrade AWS CLI v2 to its latest release — all without leaving the browser-based terminal.

Introduction

Learn what AWS CloudShell Tools does and when to use it.

Quickstart

Run your first command in under a minute.

View Versions

Display the current version of every installed shell and AWS CLI tool.

Update Tools

Upgrade AWS CLI v2 to the latest release with a single command.

What’s inside

1

Open AWS CloudShell

Sign in to the AWS Console, select your target region, and launch a CloudShell session from the toolbar.
2

Pick a script

Choose versions to inspect current tool versions, or update to upgrade AWS CLI v2 to the latest release.
3

Run one command

Paste a single curl or wget one-liner into the terminal and press Enter — no cloning, no installs.
Both scripts are served at short URLs so they can be pasted directly into any CloudShell session. See the Quickstart for the exact commands.
