Versioning System
Cromite uses Chromium’s version numbering system:- Major version: Matches Chromium’s major release (e.g., 145)
- Minor version: Typically 0, following Chromium
- Build number: Incremental Chromium build
- Patch: Chromium patch level
Cromite releases align with Chromium Stable channel updates, typically every 4 weeks for major versions and more frequently for security patches.

F-Droid Repository

Cromite includes an optional in-app update checker that is disabled by default.
- Open Cromite Settings
- Navigate to “About Cromite”
- Enable “Check for updates”
When enabled, Cromite checks

Each GitHub release includes:- Changes from upstream Chromium - Security fixes and new features from the base Chromium version
- Cromite-specific changes - New patches, privacy enhancements, and bug fixes

Security updates are released as soon as possible after Chromium publishes fixes for:- Critical security vulnerabilities

Cromite vs Chromium
While Cromite maintains version parity with Chromium, it includes:- 332 patches applied to enhance privacy and security
- Removed features: Google Sync, Safe Browsing, metrics collection
- Added features: Built-in ad blocking, extended privacy controls
- Modified defaults: Privacy-first configuration out of the box

Version 145.0.7632.120 is based on Chromium’s release from February 2026. Cromite typically releases updates within 1-7 days of the corresponding Chromium release.
