Overview

Series are the primary organizational structure in MediaStream, allowing you to group related content into seasons and episodes. This guide walks you through creating a new series from scratch.

Creating Your First Series

Navigate to Series List

From the Dashboard or sidebar, navigate to the Series section to view your existing series library.You’ll see a grid view of all available series with cover images, titles, and descriptions.

Access Create Form

Click the Create New Series button or navigate to the series creation page.The breadcrumb trail will show: “Añadir serie” (Add series)

Enter Series Details

Fill in the required information:Series Name (Required)
  • Enter a descriptive name for your series
  • This will be displayed to viewers
  • Example: “Tech Tutorials”, “Cooking Show Season 1”
Series Type (Required)
  • Select from the dropdown menu
  • Currently supports: Serie (TV Show)
  • This determines how content is organized and displayed

Submit the Form

Click the Añadir serie (Add series) button to create your series.
  • The button shows a spinner animation while processing
  • The form will be disabled during submission
  • Upon success, you’ll be redirected to the series detail page
The form automatically resets after successful submission if you want to create multiple series in a row.

After Creating a Series

Once your series is created, you’ll be taken to the Series Detail page where you can:

View Series Information

  • Cover Image: Large banner image at the top (aspect ratio: video format)
  • Title: Your series name prominently displayed
  • Description: Full series description

Manage Series Structure

The detail page is divided into two main sections:
The left panel displays all seasons in your series:
  • Season Selector: Dropdown menu to switch between seasons
  • Add Season Button: Plus icon (➕) to create new seasons
  • Season Cards: Visual cards for each season with:
    • Season title
    • Season description
    • Cover image
    • Edit button (pencil icon)
The right panel shows episodes for the selected season:
  • Episode thumbnails (25% width)
  • Episode titles and descriptions
  • Clickable to view episode details

Adding Seasons to Your Series

Navigate to Season Creation

From the series detail page, click the Plus (+) icon next to the season dropdown.Breadcrumb path: Series > Temporadas > Añadir temporada

Fill Season Information

Season Title (Required)
  • Example: “Season 1”, “2024 Episodes”
  • This helps organize your content chronologically
Season Description (Required)
  • Brief overview of what this season contains
  • Example: “Introduction to web development fundamentals”

Create Season

Click Añadir temporada (Add season) to save.The form will reset on success, allowing you to add multiple seasons quickly.

Series Management Features

Image Handling

MediaStream automatically handles cover images:
  • Images are served from the CDN: platform-static.cdn.mdstrm.com
  • Fallback image is provided if no custom image is uploaded
  • Hover effects enhance the visual experience
Navigate back to the series list at any time:
  • Click Series in the breadcrumb trail
  • Use the sidebar navigation

Editing Series

From the series detail page:
  • Click the Edit (pencil icon) button on any season card
  • Update series information as needed
Series names and types should be chosen carefully as they affect how content is organized and discovered by viewers.

Use high-quality cover images with 16:9 aspect ratio for best display
