Wordle LOTR is a Lord of the Rings themed word-guessing game built for Android and iOS with React Native and Expo. Players are challenged to identify Middle-earth words — from character names to places and legendary artifacts — using color-coded letter feedback and two lore-based hints per round. Whether you’re a seasoned Tolkien reader or a fan of the films, Wordle LOTR puts your knowledge of Middle-earth to the test one word at a time.

Key Features

Middle-earth Dictionary

Every puzzle draws from a curated dictionary of Middle-earth terms spanning characters, locations, creatures, and lore from Tolkien’s legendarium.

Color-coded Feedback

Each letter in your guess is highlighted green (correct position), yellow (wrong position), or grey (not in the word), just like classic Wordle — with a Middle-earth twist.

Two Lore Hints per Round

Stuck on a word? Every puzzle includes two lore-based hints drawn straight from the dictionary entry, giving you a nudge without giving the answer away.

Android & iOS Support

Built with React Native and Expo, the app runs on both Android and iOS. Android users can install immediately via a downloadable APK — no app store required.

How It Works

1

A random Middle-earth word is selected

When a new round begins, the app picks a word at random from the Middle-earth dictionary. The word length varies, and the grid updates automatically to match it.
2

Type a guess and get color-coded feedback

Enter a word of the same length and tap Aceptar to submit. Each letter tile changes color — green for a correct letter in the right spot, yellow for a correct letter in the wrong spot, and grey for a letter that isn’t in the word at all.
3

Use lore hints to narrow down the answer

Two hints pulled from the word’s lore entry are always visible on screen. If you’ve made three or more attempts without success, a button appears letting you reveal the answer outright and move on.

Tech Stack

Wordle LOTR is built on React Native 0.81.5 and Expo SDK 54 (~54.0.34), using expo-router for file-based navigation. The codebase is written in TypeScript 5.9 throughout. Animations are handled by react-native-reanimated, and a confetti burst powered by react-native-confetti-cannon fires off whenever you guess correctly. The project also leverages expo-haptics for tactile feedback and @expo/vector-icons for UI iconography.
Wordle LOTR is an independent fan project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Tolkien Estate or any rights holder. Android users can install it directly by downloading the APK — no Play Store account required.
