Shopping Cart
The shopping cart allows you to collect items before proceeding to checkout. You can manage quantities, review selections, and see your order total.Adding Items to Cart
From Product Detail Page
Select product options
On the product detail page, choose:
- Size: Select from available sizes (or “One Size” if no variants)
- Color: Pick a color from the color picker (if available)
- Hook Type: Choose your preferred crochet hook pattern:
- Default (standard pattern)
- Rechtsmuster (right-handed pattern)
- Gänsefüßchen (special decorative pattern)
Set quantity
Use the quantity controls:
- Click - to decrease quantity
- Click + to increase quantity
- Type directly into the quantity input
- Quantity is limited by available stock
The “Add to Cart” button is disabled if:
- The selected variant is out of stock
- No variant is selected
- The page is still loading
Product Variants
Each cart item represents a unique combination of:- Base product
- Selected size
- Selected color
- Hook type preference
Viewing Your Cart
Access your cart by:- Clicking the cart icon in the navigation bar
- Navigating to
/cartdirectly
Cart Page Layout
The cart page shows: Left Section (Cart Items)- List of all items in your cart
- Item image, name, and specifications
- Quantity controls
- Individual and total prices
- Remove button
- Subtotal
- Shipping information
- Total amount
- Checkout button or login prompt
Managing Cart Items
Updating Quantities
For each item in your cart:Decrease quantity
Click the - button to reduce quantity by 1. If quantity reaches 0, the item is removed.
The price display shows both unit price and total price (unit price × quantity) for each item.
Removing Items
To remove an item from your cart: On Desktop:- Click the trash icon button on the right side of the cart item
- Tap the trash icon in the item header (top-right of item card)
Cart Item Details
Each cart item displays:| Information | Description |

| Name | Product name |
| Size | Selected size variant |
| Color | Selected color name |
| Hook Type | Chosen crochet pattern (if applicable) |
| Unit Price | Price per item |
| Quantity | Number of items |
| Total | Unit price × quantity |
Order Summary
The order summary sidebar shows:Subtotal
Sum of all items in cart (quantity × unit price for each item)Shipping
Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on:- Delivery address
- Order total
- Shipping method
Shipping costs are not included in the cart subtotal. They will be shown during the checkout process.
Total
Current cart subtotal (shipping will be added at checkout)Cart Features
Item Count Display
At the top of the cart page, you’ll see the total number of items:- Example: “5 articles” (total of all quantities across all cart items)
Trust Badges
Below the cart items, you’ll find information about:- Fast Shipping: Delivery within 24-48 hours
- Secure Payment: SSL encrypted transactions
Empty Cart
If your cart is empty, you’ll see:- A shopping bag icon
- “Your cart is empty” message
- A button to browse the product catalog
Proceeding to Checkout
If Logged In
If Not Logged In
You must log in before checking out:- You’ll see a login prompt in the order summary section
- Click the “Log In” button
- After logging in, you’ll return to your cart
- Your cart items are preserved across login
Creating an account is required to complete a purchase. This allows you to track your order and view order history.
Continue Shopping
To add more items:- Click “Continue Shopping” at the bottom of the order summary
- You’ll return to the product catalog
- Your cart is preserved while you browse
Cart Persistence
Your cart:- Is stored in local browser storage
- Persists across browser sessions
- Is maintained when you log in/out
- Is cleared only when you:
- Manually remove all items
- Complete a purchase
- Clear your browser data
Stock Limitations
If an item has limited stock:- The + button is disabled when you reach the maximum available quantity
- You cannot add more than the available stock to your cart
- Stock levels are checked in real-time when you add items
Mobile Experience
On mobile devices:- Cart items display in a single column
- Item details are stacked vertically for easier reading
- Remove button appears in the item header
- Order summary is positioned below the cart items
- All functionality remains the same as desktop
