Email Registration

Creating an Account

Navigate to Registration

Click Registrarse in the top navigation or visit /registro.php

Choose Registration Method

  • Email: Fill out the registration form with your details
  • Google: Click the Google sign-in button

Complete Your Profile

Provide required information:
  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password (minimum 6 characters)
  • Phone number (optional)
  • Delivery address (optional)

Verify and Login

After registration, you’ll be automatically logged in and redirected to the homepage

Google OAuth Registration

When you register with Google:
  • Your name and email are automatically populated
  • A secure account is created without needing a password
  • Your Google profile photo is used as your avatar
  • You can still add phone and address details later
Google OAuth accounts are linked to your Google email. You can manage the connection through your Google account settings.

Profile Management

Access your profile by clicking your name in the navigation or visiting /perfil.php.

Profile Sections

Your profile page has three main tabs:
Update your basic account details:
  • Name: Your full name
  • Email: Contact email (used for order notifications)
  • Phone: Contact number for delivery coordination
  • Address: Default shipping address
  • Profile Photo: Upload a custom avatar (JPG, PNG)
Email changes may require verification. Your email is used for password resets and order updates.

Updating Personal Information

Navigate to Profile

Click your name in the top navigation bar

Select 'Información Personal' Tab

This opens the personal information editor

Edit Fields

Update any field you want to change:
Name: John Doe
Email: [email protected]
Phone: +57 300 123 4567
Address: Calle 123 #45-67, Bogotá

Save Changes

Click Guardar Cambios to update your profile. Changes are saved immediately via AJAX.

Uploading Profile Photo

Click 'Cambiar Foto'

In the personal information tab, click the camera icon or “Cambiar Foto” button

Select Image

Choose a JPG or PNG file from your device. Maximum file size: 5MB

Crop and Adjust

Use the image preview to ensure your photo looks good

Upload

Click Subir to save your new profile photo. Old photos are automatically removed.

Password Management

Changing Your Password

Go to Security Tab

In your profile, click the Seguridad tab

Enter Current Password

For security, you must verify your current password

Enter New Password

Provide your new password (minimum 6 characters) and confirm it

Save Changes

Click Actualizar Contraseña. You’ll be logged out of other devices automatically.

Password Reset (Forgot Password)

If you forget your password:

Click 'Olvidé mi contraseña'

On the login page, click the forgot password link

Enter Your Email

Provide the email address associated with your account

Check Your Email

You’ll receive a password reset link valid for 1 hour

Create New Password

Click the link in the email and enter your new password
Password reset tokens expire after 1 hour for security. The system limits reset requests to 3 per 15 minutes to prevent abuse.

Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time.
This action is irreversible! Deleting your account will:
  • Remove all your personal information
  • Cancel any pending orders
  • Delete your order history
  • Remove your reviews and comments
  • Cannot be undone

How to Delete Your Account

Visit Account Deletion Page

Navigate to /eliminar_cuenta.php or find the link in your profile settings

Confirm Your Identity

Enter your current password to verify

Acknowledge Warning

Read and confirm you understand data will be permanently deleted

Delete Account

Click Eliminar mi cuenta permanentemente. You’ll be logged out immediately.

Session Management

Remember Me

When logging in, you can check Recordarme to stay logged in for up to 30 days. How it works:
  • A secure token is stored in your browser
  • You stay logged in even after closing the browser
  • Token is automatically renewed with each visit
  • Changing your password invalidates all remember tokens

Logging Out

Click Cerrar Sesión in the navigation to log out:
  • Ends your current session
  • If “Remember Me” was enabled, it’s also cleared
  • You’ll be redirected to the homepage
For security on shared computers, always log out manually instead of relying on browser close.

Privacy & Data

What We Store

Your account includes:
  • Required: Name, email, password (encrypted)
  • Optional: Phone, address, profile photo
  • Automatic: Registration date, order history, reviews

Data Access

You can view and export:
  • Your personal information (profile page)
  • Order history and invoices
  • Product reviews you’ve written

CompuTécnicos complies with:
  • Colombian data protection law (Ley 1581 de 2012)
  • Your right to access, modify, and delete personal data
  • Secure password storage (bcrypt hashing)
  • Optional data collection (phone/address)
