Obsidian Agent Skills is a collection of structured skill definitions that teach AI coding assistants — including Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode — to work fluently with Obsidian vault files. Each skill is a SKILL.md file that an agent loads automatically, giving it deep knowledge of Obsidian-specific syntax, file formats, and CLI commands without any manual prompting.

Introduction

Learn what agent skills are and how they work with your AI assistant.

Installation

Add these skills to Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode in minutes.

Obsidian Markdown

Create notes with wikilinks, callouts, embeds, properties, and OFM syntax.

Obsidian Bases

Build database-like views with filters, formulas, and multiple view types.

Obsidian CLI

Read, create, search, and manage vault notes from the command line.

JSON Canvas

Author visual canvas files with nodes, edges, groups, and connections.

Get started in three steps

1

Pick your agent

These skills work with any Agent Skills-compatible agent: Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode are all supported out of the box.
2

Install the skills

Use the marketplace, npx skills, or a manual clone. See Installation for the exact command for your agent.
3

Start working in your vault

Open your Obsidian vault with your agent. The skills are auto-discovered — your agent will now understand wikilinks, .base files, .canvas files, and the Obsidian CLI with no extra prompting.
