Android Auto is designed to surface media apps in your car’s display while you drive, but it restricts which apps appear there by default. Because VIVI Music is distributed outside the Google Play Store, Android Auto will not show it as an available media source until you explicitly permit apps from unknown sources within Android Auto’s developer settings. This is a deliberate safety gate Android Auto applies to all sideloaded apps — it is not a limitation of VIVI Music itself.Documentation Index

Why VIVI Music Doesn’t Appear by Default
Android Auto maintains its own allowlist of trusted media apps and, separately, an Unknown sources toggle inside its developer settings. Sideloaded APKs — including VIVI Music — are excluded from Android Auto until that toggle is enabled. Once you turn it on, VIVI Music will appear alongside other media apps in your car’s display and remain accessible for all future sessions.This setup only needs to be done once. After you enable Unknown sources in Android Auto developer settings, VIVI Music will continue to appear in your car without any further configuration, even after app updates.
Setup Instructions
Open Android Auto on your phone
Find and open the Android Auto app from your device’s app drawer. Make sure you are on the Android Auto home screen, not inside a connected car session.
Open Settings via the hamburger menu
Tap the hamburger menu (the three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner of the screen, then tap Settings from the menu that slides out.
Unlock Developer Settings
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the Settings screen until you see the version number (for example, “Android Auto 13.x.xxxxxx”). Tap it repeatedly — typically seven or more times — until a message appears confirming that Developer Settings have been enabled.
Open the overflow menu
Return to the top of the Settings screen and tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
Enter Developer settings
In the overflow menu, tap Developer settings. This option only appears after you have unlocked it in the previous step.
Enable Unknown sources
Inside Developer settings, find the Unknown sources toggle and turn it on. This allows media apps that were not installed from the Play Store — including VIVI Music — to register themselves with Android Auto.
What You Can Do in Android Auto
Once VIVI Music is connected through Android Auto, the following controls and features are available directly on your car’s head unit:- Playback controls — Play, pause, skip forward, and skip back without touching your phone.
- Search — Use the in-car interface to search for songs, artists, and albums from the YouTube Music catalog.
- Queue management — View and navigate the current playback queue from the car’s display.
- Notification controls — Media session controls remain available in the Android notification shade on your phone throughout the drive.
