VIVI Music is a premium, open-source Android client for YouTube and YouTube Music, built from the ground up on Google’s Material 3 Expressive design system. It goes far beyond a simple music player — every interaction is shaped by fluid physics-based micro-animations, adaptive color themes that shift in real time to match your album art, and a feature set crafted for listeners who refuse to compromise.

What Makes VIVI Different

VIVI Music is engineered around five core principles that set it apart from both the official YouTube Music app and other third-party clients:
  • Dynamic Material You Color Engine — The interface continuously morphs its color palette to mirror the dominant tones of whatever is currently playing, creating a uniquely immersive visual experience on every track.
  • Ad-Free Streaming — Access the full YouTube and YouTube Music catalog with seamless background playback and no advertisements, ever.
  • Karaoke-Style Synced Lyrics — Word-by-word highlighted lyrics keep pace with the music in real time, so you always know exactly where you are in a song.
  • Animated Canvas — Apple Music-style animated backdrops bring your music to life with stunning visual motion behind the player.
  • Zero Telemetry — VIVI Music collects absolutely no data. There are no trackers, no analytics services, and no background reporting. Your library, preferences, and downloaded tracks live entirely on your device.

Current Release

The latest stable release is version 6.0.5 (versionCode 74). VIVI Music requires Android 8.0 or higher (minSdk 26) and targets the latest Android API level 37. The installed footprint is approximately 50 MB.
Android 8.0 (API level 26) is the minimum supported version. Devices running Android 7.1 or earlier cannot install VIVI Music.

Build Variants

VIVI Music is distributed in two build variants to accommodate different device ecosystems:
VariantDescription
FOSSF-Droid compatible. Contains no Google Play Services dependency. This is the default and recommended variant for most users.
GMSIncludes Google Cast support for casting playback to Chromecast and compatible devices. Requires Google Play Services on the device.
Each variant is also available across five ABI (Application Binary Interface) flavors — universal, arm64, armeabi, x86, and x86_64 — so you can choose the build optimised for your device’s processor architecture. APKs follow the naming convention app-<abi>-<variant>-release.apk. All releases are published on the VIVI Music GitHub Releases page.
