Supported IronOS hardware uses different power sources with different standards and protocols (QC/PD/etc). This information is collected from real community testing since some chargers may not fully support what’s declared on the box.

* Need further tests on newer firmware
** Most Power Banks shut down if current draw drops below 50mA, assuming charging is complete and avoiding overcharging. IronOS is designed to avoid this until it enters Zzzz mode.

USB Power Delivery (PD)
The following devices are compatible with hardware requiring Power Delivery support (≥30W). Successfully tested with TS80P in PD mode.
Important Requirements
- PD can only be provided through USB-C to USB-C cable
- Not only the charger but the cable itself must be capable of carrying higher wattages
Compatible Devices for TS80P
| Device Name | IronOS FW |
|---|
| Traver Charger QC09 (45W max)* | OK |
| Xiaomi AD65GEU Mi 65W Fast Charger with GaN Tech (AD65GEU, 65W max) | OK |
* Available as an option with TS80P from official store or NovelLife store separately on AliExpress.
DO NOT BUY cheap “fast chargers with QC/PD support” for a few dollars online (less than ~$10). Reviews show they are often fake - even if lucky, you’ll likely get 5V/1A max.
Power Calculations
Power delivered to the tip is determined by voltage and tip resistance:
| Type | Volts | / | Tip Ω | = | Amps | * | Volts | = | Watts |
|---|
| USB QC3.0 | 9V | / | 4.5 Ω | = | 2.0A | * | 9V | = | 18W |
| USB-C PD | 12V | / | 4.5 Ω | = | 3.0A | * | 12V | = | 32W |
| USB-C PD | 20V | / | 8.0 Ω | = | 2.5A | * | 20V | = | 50W |
| USB-C PD | 20V | / | 6.2 Ω | = | 3.2A | * | 20V | = | 64W |
| DC Barrel | 24V | / | 8.0 Ω | = | 3.0A | * | 24V | = | 72W |
| DC Barrel | 24V | / | 6.2 Ω | = | 3.8A | * | 24V | = | 92W |
| EPR PD3.1 | 28V | / | 8.0 Ω | = | 3.5A | * | 28V | = | 98W |
| EPR PD3.1 | 28V | / | 6.2 Ω | = | 4.5A | * | 28V | = | 126W |
Use an Ohm calculator to quickly derive watts for your configuration.
Best Practices
- Use highest voltage possible: Power delivery is proportional to voltage squared (P = V² ÷ Ω)
- PD adapters recommended: Allows iron to know supply limitations and prevent over-current
- Check cable ratings: Ensure USB-C cables are rated for the wattage you need
- Avoid ultra-cheap chargers: Spend at least $10 for reliable performance
- Test power banks: Some shut down below 50mA draw; IronOS handles this in most cases
