Galey Cloud makes it easy to find exactly the photo you’re looking for, even in large collections. Use powerful search and filtering tools to locate photos in seconds. The search bar is located at the top of the left sidebar and searches across all your photos:
1

Click the Search Bar

Click in the search field at the top of the sidebar. You’ll see a search icon and placeholder text “Buscar…” (Search).
2

Type Your Query

Start typing to search. Results update in real-time as you type.
3

View Results

The photo grid automatically filters to show only matching photos. The photo count at the top shows how many results were found.
4

Clear Search

Delete your search text to return to viewing all photos.
Search is case-insensitive, so “vacation”, “Vacation”, and “VACATION” all return the same results.

Searching by Filename

Galey Cloud searches through photo filenames:

How Filename Search Works

  • Searches anywhere in the filename (not just the beginning)
  • Case-insensitive matching
  • Partial matches are shown
  • Results appear instantly as you type

Search Examples

You TypeFinds Files Like
beachbeach_sunset.jpg, my_beach_photo.png, beach2024.jpg
2024vacation2024.jpg, 2024-summer.png, IMG_20240315.jpg
imgIMG1234.jpg, screenshotimg.png, myimg.gif
.pngphoto**.png**, screenshot**.png**, image001**.png**
If your photos have descriptive filenames (like “hawaii_sunset_2024.jpg” instead of “IMG_1234.jpg”), they’ll be much easier to find using search.

Search Best Practices

Use Specific Terms

Search for distinctive parts of filenames like locations, dates, or unique identifiers.

Try Different Keywords

If you don’t find what you’re looking for, try related terms or different parts of the filename.

Keep It Short

Shorter search terms often work better than full filenames.

Use File Extensions

Search for “.png” or “.jpg” to filter by file type.

Filtering by Album

Combine search with album filtering for powerful photo discovery:
1

Select an Album

Click any album in the left sidebar to filter photos to that album only.
2

Add Search Term

Type in the search bar to further filter within the selected album.
3

View Filtered Results

Only photos that:
  • Are in the selected album AND
  • Match your search term
…will be displayed.

Filter Combination Examples

Album SelectedSearch TermShows
Vacation 2024sunsetPhotos in “Vacation 2024” with “sunset” in the filename
All PhotosbeachAny photo with “beach” in the filename
Family Photos2024Photos in “Family Photos” with “2024” in the filename
This is perfect when you remember where a photo is (which album) but need to narrow down to specific images within that collection.

Viewing Photo Details

Once you’ve found a photo, view detailed information:
1

Click a Photo

Click any photo in the grid to select it.The photo will be highlighted with a colored border.
2

  • Detalles (Details) - File information
  • Colores (Colors) - Dominant colors in the image

Details Tab

The Details tab shows:
  • Nombre (Name) - Original filename
  • Fecha (Date) - Upload date and time
  • Dimensiones (Dimensions) - Width × height in pixels
  • Tamano (Size) - File size (KB or MB)

Grid View Options

Adjust how photos are displayed to make searching easier:

View Modes

Three view sizes are available in the toolbar above the photo grid:
Grid Icon (3×3)
  • Shows 6-10 photos per row (depending on screen size)
  • Best for: Browsing large collections quickly
  • Good for: Finding photos by visual recognition
Switch to small view when searching large collections to see more results at once. Switch to large view when you’ve narrowed down to a few candidates.

Tips for Finding Photos Quickly

Think about when and how you uploaded the photo:
  • Did you upload it to a specific album?
  • What was the date range?
  • Were there other photos uploaded at the same time?
Navigate to that album first to narrow your search.
If your photos follow naming patterns, use them:
  • Camera photos: Search for “IMG”, “DSC”, or camera model
  • Screenshots: Search for “Screen”, “Shot”, or date patterns
  • Edited photos: Search for “edited”, “final”, version numbers
Many filenames include dates:
  • “2024” for year
  • “03” or “March” for month
  • “20240315” for full date
This works if your camera or phone includes dates in filenames.
Sometimes browsing is faster than searching:
  • Switch to small view
  • Filter by album if you know which one
  • Scroll through visually
  • The human eye is excellent at pattern recognition

Search Limitations

Be aware of current search limitations:
  • Filename only - Search doesn’t look at photo content or metadata
  • No date filtering - Can’t filter by upload date directly
  • No tag support - Photos don’t have searchable tags
  • No full-text search - Can’t search within album names while searching photos

Workarounds

For Date Searches

Include dates in filenames before uploading, or organize by date-based albums.

For Content Searches

Use descriptive filenames that describe photo content when saving from your camera.

For Tag-Like Behavior

Include keywords in filenames (e.g., “beach_sunset_hawaii_2024.jpg”).

For Album Searches

Use consistent album naming so you can visually scan the sidebar quickly.

Finding Photos by Visual Details

If you can’t remember the filename but remember what the photo looks like:
1

Narrow by Album

If you know which album it’s in, select that album first.
2

Switch to Small View

Click the small grid icon to see many photos at once.
3

Scroll and Scan

Scroll through the grid and look for visual characteristics:
  • Dominant colors
  • Subject matter
  • Composition
4

Check Photo Details

When you find a candidate, click it to view details and confirm it’s the right photo.
The color analysis feature in the photo details panel can help identify photos by their color palette, even if you don’t remember the exact content.

Photo Count Information

The photo grid header shows how many photos match your current view:
  • “X fotos” - Multiple photos shown
  • “1 foto” - One photo shown
This count updates automatically when you:
  • Change albums
  • Enter search terms
  • Clear search
  • Upload new photos
