Bihar Police Notebook gives you two purpose-built A4 templates — Letter for plain Hindi correspondence and Diary for structured FIR case diaries with a statutory header. Every document is saved automatically in your browser so your work is never lost between sessions.

The Two Templates

Letter

Plain text typed across page cards. When your text overflows a page, it spills automatically to the next page — no manual page breaks needed.

FIR Case Diary

Each page contains a statutory FIR header and a two-column writing table (left column 20 %, right column 80 %). Fill the header once and add as many diary pages as the investigation requires.

Page Geometry

Both templates use A4 paper so that what you see on screen is what prints. The two templates differ in margins and font size.

Switching Templates

Switching between Letter and Diary is non-destructive. When you click the template segment button in the header, the app:
1

Flushes the autosave

Any pending changes to the current document are written to local storage before anything else happens.
2

Starts a new document

A fresh document of the chosen type is opened. The previous document stays intact in History.
3

Updates the editor view

The matching editor panel (.editor-letter or .editor-diary) is shown and the other is hidden.
Switching templates does not convert the current document to the other format. If you need both a letter and a diary for the same case, keep them as separate documents in History.

Diary-Specific Controls

The Diary template has per-page controls that do not exist in the Letter template.

Hide / Show Header

Toggle the FIR header block on any page. The first page shows the header by default. Hiding the header on continuation pages gives more writing space.

Add Page

The Add page button beneath the last diary page appends a new blank page without a header. Use it when the investigation continues beyond one sheet.

Delete Page

Each page (except the last remaining one) shows a delete button. Deletion is permanent and asks for confirmation before proceeding.

Letter Overflow

The Letter template handles overflow automatically. When typed text exceeds the visible height of a page card, the overflowing content is measured against the fixed box height and the excess is pushed forward to the next page. A brief notification tells you which page the text continued onto.

Document Names

A new document is given a name based on the creation date (for example, 15 Jun 2025). You can rename it at any time by clicking the filename field in the header and typing a new name. The name is saved with the next autosave cycle (within 600 ms of your last change).
Rename your document to the FIR number or case name straight away — it makes it much easier to find later in History.

History Sidebar

The History sidebar lists all your saved documents for the active template type.
1

Open the sidebar

Click the history toggle button in the header, or press Ctrl / Cmd + H from anywhere in the app.
2

Browse by date

Documents are grouped by the date they were created. The most recent group is expanded by default. Older groups start collapsed — click a date header to expand it.
3

Read the last-updated time

Each item shows the time the document was last modified. If the last update was on a different day from creation, the date is shown alongside the time.
4

Open or delete

Click a history item to load that document into the editor. Use the trash icon on the item to delete it permanently.
Deleting a document from History is permanent. The app asks for confirmation, but there is no recycle bin. If you use Google Drive backup, the deletion is flagged for removal from Drive on the next sync.
