The DeltaHacks application allows you to apply for the hackathon. Your application is automatically saved as you fill it out, so you can return at any time before submitting.

Getting Started

Sign in with OAuth

Navigate to the application page and sign in using OAuth authentication. Once authenticated, you’ll be redirected to the application form.

Complete the application form

Fill out all required fields. Your progress is automatically saved to local storage.

Submit your application

Review your information and click Submit. Once submitted, you’ll be redirected to your dashboard.

Application Form Sections

Personal Information

All fields in this section are required unless marked optional.
  • First Name - Your legal first name
  • Last Name - Your legal last name
  • Phone Number - Contact phone number
  • Country of Residence - Select from dropdown (Canada listed first)
  • Birthday - Must be at least 18 years old
  • Resume (Optional) - Upload PDF file (max 5 MB)

Education

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education? - Checkbox
If enrolled, the following fields appear (all optional):
  • Study Location - University/institution name
  • Study Degree - Type of degree program
  • Study Major - Field of study
  • Year of Study - Current year in program
  • Expected Graduation - Anticipated graduation date
  • Previous Hackathons Count (Optional) - Number of hackathons attended

Long Answer Questions

All long answer questions have a 150 word limit and are required:
  1. If you could instantly master any hobby, what would it be and why?
  2. Why do you want to be a part of DeltaHacks 12?
  3. Talk about a topic that can make you lose track of time, why does it captivate you?
  4. Describe a situation where you had to quickly learn a new skill or technology to solve a problem. What was your approach and what did you learn from it?
  5. If you did not have to worry about school/money/time, what is the one thing you would work on?

Survey

  • Social Links - Optional links to your social media profiles
  • Interests (Optional) - Anything else interesting you want us to know
  • T-shirt Size - Required for swag
  • What kind of hacker are you? - Multi-select (e.g., designer, developer, hardware hacker)
  • Workshop Interests (Optional) - Select workshops you’d like to attend
  • How did you hear about DeltaHacks? - Multi-select
  • Already have a team? - Checkbox
  • Coffee chat with sponsor? - Checkbox to be considered for sponsor coffee chats

Emergency Contact

All fields required:
  • Name - Emergency contact name
  • Relation - Relationship (parent/guardian/friend/spouse)
  • Phone Number - Emergency contact phone
These checkboxes are for MLH partnership. Your information will only be shared with MLH if the partnership is finalized.
Diversity Questions (All optional):
  • Do you identify as part of an underrepresented group in tech?
  • Gender
  • Sexual orientation
  • Ethnic background
Required MLH Agreements:
  • MLH Code of Conduct - Required
  • MLH Privacy Policy - Required to share application info with MLH
  • MLH Communications (Optional) - Receive emails about events and opportunities

Application Status Tracking

After submitting, your application will go through several status stages visible on your dashboard:

IN_REVIEW

Your application has been received and is being reviewed by the DeltaHacks team.
2

ACCEPTED

Congratulations! You’ve been invited to attend DeltaHacks 12. You must RSVP to confirm attendance.
3

WAITLISTED

You’ve been placed on the waitlist. You’ll be notified if a spot becomes available.
4

REJECTED

Unfortunately, we were unable to offer you a spot this year. We encourage you to apply next year!

RSVP

You’ve confirmed your attendance. Check your email for the attendee package and event details.

CHECKED_IN

You’ve checked in at the event. Welcome to DeltaHacks!

Auto-save Feature

Your application progress is automatically saved to your browser’s local storage as you type. This means:
  • You can close the browser and return later
  • Your draft is preserved until you submit
  • Each user account has its own saved draft
Clearing your browser’s local storage will delete your draft. Submit your application to ensure it’s saved to the server.

After Submission

Once submitted:
  1. You’ll be redirected to your dashboard
  2. You cannot edit your application (contact [email protected] if changes are needed)
  3. You’ll receive email updates about your application status
  4. Check your dashboard regularly for status updates

Application Deadline

Applications close when the killApplications config is set to true. You’ll see a message indicating applications are closed and cannot submit after the deadline.
