Windows continuously collects diagnostic data, usage statistics, and behavioral signals and sends them to Microsoft. The options below let you disable each category individually, giving you granular control over what leaves your machine.

Disable Windows Telemetry

Disables Windows telemetry and data collection components, including Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) scheduled tasks, Windows Error Reporting services, and all AllowTelemetry registry keys under the DataCollection policy path. Scheduled tasks disabled:
  • Consolidator, KernelCeipTask, UsbCeip (CEIP)
  • Proxy (Autochk)
  • Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticDataCollector
  • DmClient, DmClientOnScenarioDownload (Feedback/Siuf)

Disable Windows Search Telemetry

Disables Windows Search telemetry by blocking web search integration, Cortana, Bing suggestions, cloud search, and remote query capabilities via policy registry keys under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search.

Disable Office Telemetry

Disables Microsoft Office telemetry and data collection for both Office 15 (2013) and Office 16 (2016/365). Stops logging in Outlook and Word, disables OSM (Office Telemetry) upload, turns off client telemetry and quality metrics, and disables the Office Telemetry Agent scheduled tasks. Scheduled tasks disabled:
  • OfficeTelemetryAgentFallBack, OfficeTelemetryAgentLogOn (2013 & 2016)
  • Office 15 Subscription Heartbeat, Office 16 Subscription Heartbeat

Disable Feedback Data Collection

Disable Handwriting Data Collection

Disables data collection for Windows Ink & Typing Personalization. Prevents implicit ink and text collection, handwriting error reports, and handwriting data sharing with Microsoft. Also disables input personalization and contact harvesting from the trained data store.

Disable Internet Access for Windows DRM

Prevents Windows Digital Rights Management (WMDRM) from contacting Microsoft’s license servers over the internet. Sets DisableOnline to 1 under the WMDRM policy key.

Disable Cloud-Based Speech Recognition

Disables the cloud-based speech recognition feature in Windows by setting HasAccepted to 0 in the OnlineSpeechPrivacy settings. This prevents Windows from sending voice data to Microsoft’s speech recognition servers.

Disable Targeted Ads

Disables Windows targeted advertising and personalized content delivery. Turns off Windows Spotlight, consumer features, tailored experiences using diagnostic data, and advertising info. Also disables the ContentDeliveryManager subscribed content IDs used for lock screen suggestions, Start menu recommendations, and app promotions.
