Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have all of the following:- Xbox 360 (no modifications required)
- Xbox 360 Hard Drive (20 GB minimum)
- Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable, or a compatible SATA to USB adapter
- Sonic Unleashed for Xbox 360 (US or EU — JP is not supported)
- Retail disc or digital copy (available on the Xbox Store)
- Title Update required
- Adventure Pack DLC (optional but highly recommended — includes high-quality lighting for the entire game)
- 7-Zip — for extracting Velocity
- Velocity (Gualdimar’s fork)
Instructions
Install the game from disc
Insert your retail disc copy of Sonic Unleashed into the Xbox 360 disc tray.
If you have a digital copy of Sonic Unleashed, skip ahead to Step 4 — the game is already on your hard drive and does not need to be installed from a disc.
Open Game Details
At the Xbox Dashboard, go to the disc tile under the Home tab and press X to view Game Details.
Install to the hard drive
Under the Overview tab, select the Install tile and choose to install the game to your primary hard drive.
Remove the hard drive from the console
Once the installation is complete, turn off your Xbox 360 and remove the hard drive from your console.
Connect the hard drive to your PC
Using the Xbox 360 Hard Drive Transfer Cable (or a compatible SATA to USB adapter), connect your Xbox 360 hard drive to your PC.
Extract Velocity
Download the latest release of Velocity. Open the
.rar file using 7-Zip and extract its contents to a convenient location on your PC.Create a destination folder
Create a new folder somewhere convenient on your PC. This is where you will store the copied game files.
Run Velocity as Administrator (Windows only)
Right-click
Velocity.exe and select Properties. Under the Compatibility tab, tick Run this program as an administrator, then click OK. This is required for Velocity to detect and read the Xbox 360 hard drive.You can now launch Velocity.exe.If you are on Linux, skip this step and launch Velocity directly.
Open the Device Content Viewer
When Velocity launches, you should see a Device Detected prompt asking if you would like to open the Device Content Viewer. Click Yes.
Navigate to the game and DLC content
In the Device Content Viewer you will see a tree view of your hard drive’s contents. Expand the following nodes:
/Shared Items/Games//Shared Items/DLC/(only if you have the DLC installed)
Select all content to copy
Hold the Ctrl key and click SONIC UNLEASHED under the
Games node. If you have the DLC installed, also click each Adventure Pack under the DLC node. Make sure all desired items are selected before continuing.Copy the game files to your PC
Right-click any of the selected items and choose Copy Selected to Local Disk. Navigate to the folder you created in Step 7 and select it. Velocity will now copy all selected content to your PC.
Open the Raw Device Viewer
Once the transfer is complete, close the Device Content Viewer window. In the menu bar, navigate to Tools → Device Tools → Raw Device Viewer.
Find the Title Update file
Navigate to
/Content/Cache/ and click the Name column header to sort by name. Look for a file whose name begins with TU_19KA20I — this is the Title Update, which is required for installation.Copy the Title Update to your PC
Right-click the
TU_19KA20I file and select Copy Selected to Local Disk. Navigate to the folder you created in Step 7 and select it. Velocity will copy the Title Update to your PC.
