The active workout screen is where your training happens. KERN shows you every exercise in your routine, pre-fills weight and rep fields with what you lifted last session, and automatically starts a rest timer after each completed set. When you are done, tapping Finalizar saves everything to your history and updates your dashboard stats.Documentation Index

Starting a session
Tap the Rendimiento button on the dashboard, or select your routine from the home screen. The active workout screen loads your full exercise list with all sets ready to fill in.Logging a set
Find your exercise in the list
The screen shows each exercise in your routine. Scroll to the exercise you want to log.
Check the 'Anterior' suggestion
Below the weight and rep fields you will see a suggestion like “Anterior: 60 kg × 10”. This is exactly what you lifted for that set in your previous session. Use it as your starting target. The fields are pre-filled with those values so you can either match them or type a new number straight away.
Enter your weight and reps
Tap the kg field and type the weight you are using. Tap the reps field and enter how many repetitions you completed.
Tap the checkmark to complete the set
Tap the checkmark icon next to the set to mark it as done. The rest timer starts automatically.
How last-session suggestions work
Every time you load a workout, KERN fetches your most recent completed session for that routine and matches each set by its position. The values are shown as:- Anterior — a text label (e.g.,
"60 kg x 10") displayed below the input fields - prev_kilos and prev_reps — the numeric values pre-filled into the input fields as a starting suggestion
The rest timer
The rest timer starts automatically after you mark a set complete. You can adjust the timer duration to match your preferred rest period. The timer is shown prominently on screen so you can keep track without watching the clock.Step counter
Your phone’s step sensor runs in the background for the entire session as a foreground service. You do not need to do anything — KERN records your steps automatically and includes the total in your session summary. The step counter continues working even if you briefly switch to another app. KERN uses a foreground service to prevent Android from stopping the count mid-session.
Finishing your workout
When you have completed all exercises, tap Finalizar. KERN will:- Calculate your total volume (sum of weight × reps across every completed set)
- Display a session summary showing total volume and total steps
- Save the session to your history immediately
- Update your dashboard stats (workouts, steps, training days, and volume chart)
