After registering, KERN guides you through a short questionnaire before you see the main dashboard. This is the step where KERN “thinks” for you — your answers determine which exercises are selected, how many sets are created, and how your entire training plan is structured. You only complete this questionnaire once. It cannot be repeated after submission.

What the questionnaire asks

1

Choose your training environment

Select where you train. Currently KERN supports Gym (Gimnasio) as the primary training environment, which unlocks the full exercise catalogue.
2

Select your routine type

Choose one of the three available training structures:

Full Body

Trains all major muscle groups in every session. Best if you go to the gym 2–3 times per week.

PPL (Push Pull Leg)

Splits your training into Push, Pull, and Leg days. Designed for 4–6 sessions per week.

Torso-Pierna

Alternates between upper body and lower body days. Works well across 4 weekly sessions.
3

Confirm and generate your routine

Tap Confirmar to submit your answers. KERN generates your routine automatically and shows you the confirmation message: “Hemos generado tu rutina X”. You are then redirected to the main dashboard.
Not sure which routine to pick? Use Full Body if you train 2–3 times per week, PPL if you can commit to 4–6 days, or Torso-Pierna if 4 days per week fits your schedule.

How KERN builds your routine

When you submit the questionnaire, KERN’s algorithm:
  1. Reads your chosen routine type and looks up its configuration (target muscles and movement patterns)
  2. Searches the gym exercise catalogue for exercises that match each muscle group and movement pattern
  3. Selects one exercise per slot — if no perfect match exists, it falls back to any exercise for that muscle group
  4. Creates your routine with 3 sets per exercise, each defaulting to 0 kg × 10 reps
You fill in your actual weights during your first workout session. The zeroed values are placeholders — KERN uses your real lifts from that point forward to track progression.
The questionnaire can only be completed once. If you want to change your routine type later, you can create a new routine manually from the app.
