Keybinding Reference

This is the complete keybinding reference for Typist. Keybindings are organized by function and game state for easy lookup.

This guide uses QWERTY layout by default. See Keyboard Layouts for Dvorak and Workman mappings.

Global Keybindings

These keys work in all game states:

Escape	Open options menu	Only if menu not already open
x	View run info	When run info button is available

Space	Start run / Continue	Main menu “Play” button
Any key	Skip splash screen	When splash screen is showing

Game Over / End Screen

Space	New run	Goes to deck selection
Tab	Main menu	Exits to main menu
Escape	Main menu	Same as Tab
Enter	Endless mode / Zen retry	Endless if won, retry if Taikomochi installed

Deck Selection

Key	Function	Requirements
Space	Start with selected deck	Deck must be unlocked
Tab	Cancel	Returns to previous menu
Escape	Cancel	Same as Tab

Round (Selecting Hand)

Direct Card Selection

No leader key needed in rounds:

Hand Actions

Hand Sorting

v	Sort by rank	Orders by card value
c	Sort by suit	Groups by suit
b	Sort by enhancement	Glass to end, lucky/mult to start

Deck Preview

z (hold)	Show deck preview	Displays entire deck above hand

Cheat Layer

Accessing the Cheat Layer

Hold p (right leader) or q (left leader) to activate the cheat layer, then press any of these keys:

Best Hand Selection

Key	Function	Modifier
b	Select best hand	Hold Shift to cycle backwards
f	Best flush	Finds best flush suit available

Select by Suit

s	Spades	Selects all Spades in hand
d	Diamonds	Selects all Diamonds in hand
c	Clubs	Selects all Clubs in hand
h	Hearts	Selects all Hearts in hand

Select by Rank

Cheat Layer Notes

Space and Tab still work in cheat layer (play/discard)
Rank selection for q requires both leaders held (to avoid conflict)
Use Shift + b to cycle through best hands in reverse order

Card Movement

How to Move Cards

Hold leader key (e.g., [ for jokers)
Press position key to select card (e.g., a for first joker)
Press different position key to move it there (e.g., f to move to 5th position)
Card will swap/shift to new position

Multi-Select (Booster Packs Only)

Advanced: Top Area (Numbers Row)

Direct access to jokers and consumables without leader keys:

The number row selects from a virtual “top area” combining jokers first, then consumables. This provides quick access without leader keys.
