NeverTooManyBooks is a free, open-source Android app built for anyone who has ever lost track of their reading list, accidentally bought a duplicate, or simply wanted a better way to manage their personal library. It solves the everyday problem of keeping a growing book and comic collection organised by letting you add titles in seconds — scan a barcode, search by ISBN, or type a title — and then automatically pulling rich metadata from more than twenty internet sources so you rarely have to fill in details by hand.

Key Features

  • Barcode & ISBN scanning — point your camera at any book barcode and the app does the rest
  • 20+ data sources — Amazon, Google Books, Open Library, ISFDB, Goodreads, BnF.fr, DNB, Douban, Bedetheque, and many more, each configurable and prioritisable
  • Bookshelves — organise titles into as many named shelves as you like
  • Reading progress — track what you have read, are reading, or want to read
  • Calibre sync — synchronise your library with a Calibre Content Server over your local network
  • Backup & restore — full JSON-based backups keep your data safe across reinstalls and device changes
  • Multilingual UI — the interface ships in 20 languages including Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), French, German, Spanish, Russian, and more, with additional translations maintained on Weblate
  • Tablet-optimised layouts — dedicated two-panel layouts for 7″ and 10″ tablets, with graceful scaling down to 4″ phones
