Player settings control how Metrolist manages your queue, records your listening history, and behaves across sessions. You can find all of these options under Settings → Player & Audio.

Queue behavior

Persistent queue

When enabled (default), Metrolist saves your current queue to disk and restores it automatically the next time you open the app. Disabling this means the queue is cleared whenever the app is restarted.
When the queue runs out of tracks, Metrolist automatically fetches related tracks from YouTube Music and appends them. This keeps playback going without manual action.
Suppresses auto-loading when the player is set to Repeat All mode. With Repeat All on, the queue loops indefinitely and additional tracks are usually not wanted.
Controls whether Metrolist uses YouTube Music’s “similar content” recommendations when auto-loading more tracks. Disable this if you want auto-loaded tracks to come from a more direct continuation instead.
When enabled, Metrolist blocks the same track from appearing more than once in the queue at a time. If a duplicate is detected when adding a song, it is not added again.
When enabled, the shuffle state is carried over when the active queue changes — for example, when you start playing a new playlist. The shuffle mode you had active continues into the new queue.
When enabled, opening a playlist in shuffle mode shuffles the playlist’s tracks before starting playback, rather than playing from the first track and shuffling subsequent picks.

Playback behavior

Remember shuffle and repeat

When enabled (default), Metrolist saves your shuffle and repeat mode choices and restores them the next time you open the app. Disabling this resets both modes to their defaults on each launch.
When a track fails to load or play — for example because it is unavailable in your region — Metrolist automatically skips to the next track in the queue instead of stopping.
When enabled, Metrolist stops playback and releases the media session when you swipe the app away from the Android recents screen. By default, playback continues in the background after the app is dismissed.
Adds extra seconds to the standard seek-forward and seek-backward buttons in the player. Enable this if you prefer longer jumps when scrubbing through a track.

History

History duration

Controls how many seconds a song must have played before Metrolist counts it as “played” in your listening history and statistics. Use the slider to set a value between 1 and 100 seconds.
If you frequently skip tracks early, set the history duration to a low value so that brief listens do not pollute your play count statistics.

Auto-download on like

When enabled, Metrolist automatically starts a download whenever you like a song. This is useful if you want your liked songs available offline without manually queuing each download.

Display

Keep screen on during playback

When enabled, Metrolist prevents the screen from turning off while the expanded player is visible. The screen will dim and lock normally when the player is minimized or the app is backgrounded.

Google Cast

Google Cast is only available in the GMS build of Metrolist. It is not present in the FOSS (F-Droid) build variant. The Cast setting does not appear in the settings screen when running the FOSS build (BuildConfig.CAST_AVAILABLE is false).
When running the GMS build, you can enable or disable Google Cast support. Enabling Cast adds a Cast button to the player toolbar when a Cast-compatible device is available on your network. Disabling this preference removes the Cast button and stops Metrolist from scanning for Cast receivers. This can be useful if you do not own a Cast device and want to avoid unnecessary network activity.
