Login is optional

You do not need a YouTube Music account to use Metrolist. The app works without login for browsing, searching, and playing music from YouTube Music. Signing in unlocks account-linked features:
  • Liked songs — access and sync your liked tracks
  • Playlists — view and play your YouTube Music playlists
  • Subscribed artists — browse artists you follow
  • Albums — access your saved albums
  • Listening history — continue where you left off
  • Podcasts — access subscribed podcast shows and channels
Login requires a YouTube Music account — a standard Google account alone is not sufficient. YouTube Music must be available in your region. If it is not, see Regional restrictions.

How to sign in

Open Settings

Tap the Settings icon in the bottom navigation bar or from the side drawer.

Go to Account

Tap Account in the Settings menu.

Sign in with YouTube Music

Tap Sign in. A browser-based login screen opens, loading the Google sign-in page for YouTube Music (accounts.google.com).

Complete the Google sign-in flow

Enter your Google account credentials and complete any two-factor authentication steps. Once you land on music.youtube.com, Metrolist detects the successful login, stores your session locally, and restarts the app to apply your account state.
After a successful login, Metrolist restarts automatically. This is expected — the app reloads to apply your account session throughout the interface.

How to sign out

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Tap Sign out.
  3. A dialog will ask whether you want to keep or clear your local library data (downloaded songs, local playlists, and cached content). Choose the option that suits you, then confirm.

Privacy

Your credentials are never sent to Metrolist’s servers. The login flow happens entirely inside an in-app WebView connected directly to Google’s authentication pages. Your session cookie and account data are stored locally on your device only and are not shared with any third party.
