How updates work
On startup, TecniLauncher fetches version information from a remote JSON endpoint and compares it to the currently installed version.- If a newer version is found, a notification appears showing the changelog — a summary of what changed in the new release.
- Critical updates prompt immediate installation and cannot be deferred. These are released when a fix is urgent or the current version has a significant issue.
- Non-critical updates give you the choice to install now or continue with the current version and update later.
Update process

TecniLauncher detects a new version on startup and displays the changelog. Click Update to begin.
Download
TecniLauncher downloads a
.zip package containing the new files. Progress is shown as the download runs (“Downloading update package…”).Installation
TecniLauncher prepares the installation (“Preparing installation…”), then closes. A script replaces the old launcher files with the new ones.
What updates preserve
The update process only replaces TecniLauncher’s application files. Your personal data is never modified:- Profiles, settings, and session data are stored in
%APPDATA%\.TecniLauncher\Data\and are untouched by updates. - Minecraft game files in
%APPDATA%\.TecniLauncher\Global\are also preserved.
During the update, TecniLauncher closes briefly. This is expected — it restarts automatically once the update files are in place.
