The Characters tab gives you a visual overview of every character in Brown Dust 2 and the mods available for each one. Use it to discover new mods, narrow down by mod type, and toggle individual mods on or off directly from the character card.

Grid view

Characters are displayed as a scrollable grid. Each card shows:
  • The character’s portrait
  • The character’s name
  • A count of how many mods are installed for that character
  • An indicator of how many of those mods are currently enabled
Click any character card to open a panel listing all mods associated with that character.

Filtering characters

Filter by name

Type in the search field at the top of the tab to filter characters by name in real time. The grid updates as you type.

Filter by mod type

Use the mod type filter to show only characters that have mods of a specific type. The available mod types match the types supported by BD2MM:

Standing

Replaces a character’s standing (lobby/battle) sprite.

Cutscene

Replaces assets used during story cutscenes.

Dating

Replaces assets used in dating simulation scenes.

Scene

Replaces assets for general in-game scenes.

NPC

Replaces NPC character assets.

Minigame

Replaces assets used in minigame sequences.
Selecting multiple mod types shows characters that have at least one mod matching any of the selected types.

Filter by release period

Narrow the grid to characters that have had mods released within a specific window:
OptionWhat it shows
Last weekMods released in the past 7 days
Last 2 weeksMods released in the past 14 days
Last monthMods released in the past 30 days
All timeNo date restriction (default)

Sorting the grid

Use the Sort dropdown to reorder the character grid:
  • Name — alphabetical order (A → Z)
  • Release date — most recently released mods first
  • Number of mods — characters with the most installed mods first

Managing mods per character

Click a character card to open its mod list. From this panel you can:
  • See every mod installed for that character
  • Toggle individual mods on or off using the enable/disable switch
  • See the mod type badge for each entry
Enabling or disabling a mod here is equivalent to using the toggle in the Mods tab. Changes take effect the next time you sync mods to the game directory.
Use the release period filter together with the Release date sort option to quickly find the newest additions to your collection.
