  • A Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC (64-bit)
  • Brown Dust 2 installed via the Neowiz launcher (or Steam)
  • A mod file to install — grab one from the BrownDustX Discord
1

Download and install BD2 Mod Manager

Go to the latest release on GitHub and download the installer (.exe or .msi).Run the installer and follow the prompts. BD2 Mod Manager will launch automatically when the install completes.
2

F:\Neowiz\Browndust2\Browndust2_10000001
Click Browse, navigate to that folder, and confirm.
If you installed through Steam, right-click the game in your Steam library → ManageBrowse local files to find the directory.
3

Install BrownDustX (if not already installed)

  1. Click the BrownDustX tab in the sidebar.
  2. Click Install BepInEx and wait for it to complete.
  3. Click Install BrownDustX and wait for it to complete.
Both indicators will turn green when installation is successful.
4

Add a mod

You can add mods in two ways:From an archive (ZIP, RAR, or 7z):

  2. The app extracts the archive and adds the mod to your staging directory.
From a folder:
  1. Click Install from Folder.
  2. Select the folder containing the mod’s .modfile.
The mod will appear in the Mods tab list after installation.
5

Enable the mod

In the Mods tab, find your newly added mod in the list and toggle it on using the checkbox or the enable button.
If the mod shows an error badge (such as MissingModfile or ShouldBeInFolder), fix the issue before enabling. See Troubleshooting for details.
6

Sync

Click Sync in the toolbar. BD2 Mod Manager copies your enabled mods into:
<game_dir>/BepInEx/plugins/BrownDustX/mods/BD2MM/
A progress indicator shows each mod being synced. When it completes, launch Brown Dust 2 — your mod is active.
You must click Sync after any enable, disable, rename, or delete operation for changes to take effect in the game.
