Download

All releases are published on GitHub: https://github.com/bruhnn/BD2ModManager/releases On the releases page, find the latest release (currently v4.0.1) and expand the Assets section. Download one of the following:
FileDescription
BD2ModManager_x.x.x_x64-setup.exeNSIS installer — recommended for most users
BD2ModManager_x.x.x_x64_en-US.msiMSI package — for managed or enterprise environments
Download the .exe setup file unless you have a specific reason to use the .msi. The NSIS installer handles all dependencies automatically.

Install steps

1

Run the installer

Double-click the downloaded BD2ModManager_x.x.x_x64-setup.exe file.If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info then Run anyway. This warning appears because the binary is not yet signed with an EV certificate.
2

Follow the setup wizard

The installer copies the application files to your user directory (no administrator privileges required) and creates a Start Menu shortcut.Accept the default install location unless you have a reason to change it.
3

Launch BD2 Mod Manager

After installation completes, click Finish in the setup wizard (or find BD2 Mod Manager in your Start Menu) to open the application. On first launch, you will see the first-launch setup prompt asking for your game directory.
Do not install BD2 Mod Manager directly into your Brown Dust 2 game folder. The app manages mods through a separate staging directory and writes into the game folder only during Sync.

Updating BD2 Mod Manager

By default, BD2 Mod Manager checks for updates automatically when you launch the app (check_for_app_updates is enabled). When an update is available, a notification appears in the app with a link to the new release. To update manually, download the latest installer from the releases page and run it over your existing installation. Your configuration, staging directory, and mod list are preserved.

Uninstalling

Uninstall BD2 Mod Manager through Windows Settings → Apps (or Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel). This removes the application but does not delete your staging directory or any mods you have added. To fully remove all data, manually delete the app’s configuration folder after uninstalling. You can find its location in Settings → General inside the app.
