BD2 Mod Manager needs to know where Brown Dust 2 is installed so it can write synced mods to the right place. The game directory is the folder that contains BrownDust II.exe.
What the game directory is
The game directory is not the root of your Steam library or the Neowiz launcher folder. It is the specific subfolder that holds the game executable.
A typical path looks like:
F:\Neowiz\Browndust2\Browndust2_10000001
Inside this folder you should see:
Browndust2_10000001\
├── BrownDust II.exe
├── BepInEx\
│ └── plugins\
│ └── BrownDustX\ ← BrownDustX mod loader lives here
│ └── mods\
│ └── BD2MM\ ← BD2MM writes enabled mods here during Sync
└── ...
Do not point BD2 Mod Manager at a parent folder such as Browndust2\ or your Steam steamapps\ directory. The app validates the path by looking for BrownDust II.exe directly inside the selected folder.
Auto-detect
BD2 Mod Manager can automatically find your game directory by reading the Neowiz launcher registry entry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Neowiz\Browndust2Starter\10000001). If the game was installed via the Neowiz launcher, click Auto-detect in the game directory field and the app will populate the path automatically.
Auto-detect only works for Neowiz launcher installations. If you installed via Steam or a custom path, set the directory manually using the steps below.
