Service Alerts gives you up-to-date information about disruptions, engineering works, and other events affecting the South Tyrol transit network. Alerts come directly from the official EFA API operated by the South Tyrol transit authority (STA), so you get the same information shown at stops and stations.

Accessing service alerts

You can reach service alerts from two places:
  • Home screen widget — A compact alerts banner appears on the home screen when active alerts exist. It shows the number of critical, warning, and informational alerts at a glance. Tap it to open the full alerts page.
  • Full alerts page — Navigate directly to /stoerungen or tap the alerts icon in the navigation bar to open the complete list with filtering options.

Alert severity levels

SmartMove maps every alert from the EFA network to one of three severity levels:
Critical alerts indicate service-blocking disruptions — for example, a line that is completely suspended, a stop that is closed, or an emergency affecting passenger travel. These appear with a red badge and an X-circle icon.A critical alert is shown when the EFA API reports the alert as high priority or marks it as a stopBlocking event.

Reading an alert

Each alert card in the full alerts page shows:
  • Severity badge — Colour-coded label (critical / warning / info)
  • Title — A short description of the event
  • Subtitle — The line, stop, or route affected
  • Time — When the disruption started or when it was published
  • Full description — Tap the card to expand it and read the complete message from the transit authority
Alert content is published by the South Tyrol transit authority in German and Italian. SmartMove displays the text as-is from the official feed; the language matches the content of the alert itself.

Filtering alerts

The full alerts page provides two filter controls to narrow the list:

Filter by severity

Tap the severity filter to show only alerts of a specific type:
FilterShows
AllEvery active alert regardless of severity
CriticalOnly service-blocking disruptions
WarningOnly partial disruptions and engineering works
InfoOnly informational announcements

Filter by transport mode

Tap the mode filter to limit alerts to a specific transport type:
FilterShows
AllAlerts for every mode
TrainAlerts mentioning train or rail services
BusAlerts for bus routes
Cable carAlerts for gondola and aerial tramway services
SmartMove detects the transport mode of an alert by scanning the alert text for known German and Italian keywords (for example, “Zug”, “treno”, “Seilbahn”, “funivia”).

Home screen alert banner

When there are active alerts, a banner appears on the home screen above the search form. The banner colour reflects the most severe active alert:
  • Red border — at least one critical alert is active
  • Amber border — warnings are active but no critical alerts
  • Blue border — only informational messages are active
Tap the banner to go directly to the full alerts page.
If the banner is not visible, there are no active alerts for the network. This is the normal state on most days.

Data source and refresh rate

All alerts come from the official South Tyrol EFA API (efa.sta.bz.it). SmartMove fetches the alert feed when you open the home screen or alerts page, and refreshes it automatically every 5 minutes while the page is open.
Alert data reflects what the transit authority has published. SmartMove has no ability to add, modify, or remove alerts — all content comes directly from the official feed.

Frequently asked questions

The alerts page shows all active alerts for the entire South Tyrol network. Use the mode and severity filters to focus on the lines and types of disruption that matter to you.
Alert text is published by the transit authority in German and Italian. SmartMove displays the content directly from the feed. There is no translated version for English or Ladin.
The feed refreshes every 5 minutes while the page is open. When you first open the home screen or alerts page, a fresh request is made immediately. Tap the refresh button on the alerts page to force an immediate update.
Alerts must be published to the EFA API by the transit authority before they appear in SmartMove. There may be a short delay between a disruption occurring and the official alert being posted.
