Once the patcher finishes, you have a set of patched WAD files ready to install. The patcher displays a Patching Completed! screen summarising where the files ended up and what to do next. The exact installation method depends on whether you are targeting a Wii or Wii U (vWii) console, or the Dolphin emulator.
After installing the WADs, follow the full WiiLink setup tutorial at https://wiilink.ca/guide/wads to complete channel configuration on your Wii.

Installation Steps

The patcher automatically downloads yawmME (YAWM ModMii Edition) and places it in the apps/ folder on your SD card alongside the patched WADs. You do not need to download it separately. If an SD card or USB drive was detected during patching, the patcher confirms: “Every file is in its place on your SD Card / USB Drive!” — meaning the WAD/ and apps/ folders are already at the root and you can proceed directly to step 2.If no SD card was detected, the files are saved in the WiiLink/ folder next to the patcher. Copy both the WAD/ and apps/ folders to the root of your SD card or USB drive before continuing.
1

yawmME is already on your SD card

The patcher places yawmME in the apps/ folder at the root of your SD card or USB drive automatically. Confirm that apps/yawmME/ exists before continuing.
2

Insert your SD card into your Wii

Power on your Wii and insert the SD card or USB drive that contains the WAD/ and apps/ folders.
3

Launch the Homebrew Channel

From the Wii main menu, open the Homebrew Channel.
4

Open yawmME

Find and launch YAWM ModMii Edition (yawmME) from the Homebrew Channel app list.
5

Navigate to the WAD folder

Inside yawmME, select your SD card as the source device, then navigate into the WAD/ folder.
6

Install each WAD file

Select each .wad file in the folder and confirm installation. Repeat for all WADs provided by the patcher.
For a detailed yawmME walkthrough, see the official guide at https://wii.hacks.guide/yawmme.

After the Patcher Finishes — Navigation Options

On the Patching Completed! screen, three options are available:
OptionWhat it does
1 — Open the SD Card / USB Drive folder (SD detected) or Open the folder (no SD)Opens the SD card / USB drive root or the WiiLink/ output folder in your system file browser
2 — Go back to the main menuReturns to the patcher main menu — also re-runs SD card detection
3 — Exit the programCloses the patcher

Troubleshooting

If the patcher reports it could not detect your SD card or USB drive on the completion screen, you can still access your files. They are saved in the WiiLink/ subfolder next to the patcher executable. Copy the WAD/ and apps/ folders from there to the root of your SD card manually. To re-run auto-detection, press R on the main menu. To enter the path manually, press M.
WAD installation requires a homebrewed Wii with the Homebrew Channel already installed. If you have not yet set up homebrew on your Wii, follow the guide at https://wii.hacks.guide first. If the channel installs but shows an error code, make sure yawmME is up to date and that you are using the WAD files produced by the latest version of WiiLink Patcher. WiiLink channels rely on WiiConnect24 to communicate with WiiLink’s servers. Check the following:
  • WiiConnect24 is enabled: Go to Wii Settings → Internet → WiiConnect24 and make sure it is set to On.
  • Console clock is correct: An incorrect system clock can cause connection failures. Set the correct date and time in Wii Settings → Calendar.
  • Internet connection is active: Run a connection test from Wii Settings → Internet → Connection Settings.
If the issue persists, ask for help on the WiiLink Discord.
