The My AskAI Shopify integration turns your AI agent into a specialist e-commerce support agent. Once connected, your agent has real-time access to your store’s product pages, product data, and customer order records. A customer asking “Where is my order?” gets a specific, accurate answer — order number, items, status, tracking link — without your team lifting a finger. Most Shopify stores see over 70% of support queries resolved by the AI agent within the first month.

What the Shopify Integration Enables

Order status lookups

Customers can ask about any order and the agent retrieves the current status, dispatch date, items, and tracking link directly from Shopify.

Product questions

The agent answers questions about sizes, materials, shipping times, and availability using your live product catalogue — always up to date.

Returns and refunds policy

The agent explains your returns and refunds policy in full, and can be combined with Tasks to automate the refund process end to end.

Multi-language and multi-currency

Your agent converses with customers in 95+ languages and handles pricing in any currency your store uses, including Shopify Markets.

How to Connect Your Shopify Store

Install the My AskAI app from the Shopify App Store

Find and install the My AskAI AI Support Agent app from the Shopify App Store. No developer is required — this is a standard OAuth app install.

Connect from your My AskAI Dashboard

Log in to your Dashboard and go to Knowledge > Content > Connect Shopify store, then click Connect Shopify store.

Enter your store name

Enter your Shopify store name (the subdomain from your admin URL — for example, if your admin URL is yourstore.myshopify.com, your store name is yourstore).

Confirm the connection

My AskAI will automatically sync your:
  • Pages — all published store pages and blog posts
  • Products — full product catalogue including descriptions, variants, and pricing
  • Customer data — order history, addresses, and account details for verified customers
You’ll see pages and products appear in your content list almost immediately. Customer data becomes available for live order lookups once the sync is complete.

Review and manage your synced content

Click Content (x pages/products) to see every item your agent can access. If you want to hide specific pages from the agent’s knowledge (for example, a staging page or internal document), toggle the Public switch next to that item to Private.

Embed the chat widget on your Shopify store

Go to Channels in your Dashboard and copy the widget embed code. Paste it into your Shopify theme’s theme.liquid file, or use the My AskAI app within your Shopify admin to add it without editing code. The chat bubble will then appear on every page of your store.

How Order Status Checks Work

When a customer asks about their order, the agent uses a Task and Tool that My AskAI automatically creates for you during Shopify setup. The flow is:
  1. The agent detects the user is asking about an order
  2. If the user is unverified (e.g. using the website chat widget), the task collects their email address and order ID
  3. The tool calls Shopify’s API with those details
  4. The agent responds with the order’s status, items, and tracking link
Example conversation on your website widget:
Customer: “Where is my order?” Agent: “I’d be happy to help! Could you please share your order number and the email address you used to place the order?” Customer: “Order #4521, sarah@example.comAgent: “Thanks Sarah! Your order #4521 (Organic Cotton Tote Bag, Navy) was dispatched on 4 November and is currently in transit with DPD. You can track it here: track your order.”
If the customer is contacting you through a helpdesk integration like Gorgias or Zendesk, their email is already verified, so the agent can look up their orders without asking.

Out-of-the-Box AI Actions for Shopify

When you connect Shopify, My AskAI automatically creates the following tools and tasks in your Tasks & Tools section:

You can view and edit both from Tasks & Tools in your Dashboard — for example, to add custom logic, change the tone, or extend the flow to include returns handling.

Managing Customer Data Sync

By default, customer order data is synced and available to your agent. If you need to turn this off:
  1. Go to Knowledge > Content > Connected Shopify store
  2. Click the ⚙️ Settings icon
  3. Expand Configure your Shopify connection
  4. Toggle AI agent access to customer data to Off
With this off, the agent will still be able to answer product and policy questions but will not be able to look up individual orders or customer records.

Shopify Markets and Multi-Store Support

My AskAI works with Shopify Markets out of the box:
  • Multi-language: The agent auto-detects the customer’s language and responds accordingly — no configuration needed. 95+ languages supported.
  • Multi-currency: Order details including prices are returned in the currency the customer used to purchase.
  • Multiple storefronts: If you operate separate storefronts for different regions, you can add the My AskAI widget to each one using the same embed code.

Works Alongside Gorgias

If you use Gorgias for e-commerce customer support, My AskAI integrates with both. Your AI agent handles queries on your Shopify storefront widget, and also responds to tickets and emails inside Gorgias — with full access to Shopify order data in both places.

Upgrading Your Plan via Shopify

If you subscribed to My AskAI through the Shopify App Store, you must manage your plan upgrade from within the Shopify admin. To switch from a monthly to an annual plan, contact the My AskAI team by typing “Talk to a person” in the support chat widget.

Disconnecting Shopify

To disconnect your Shopify store and remove all synced content and customer data, uninstall the My AskAI app from your Shopify admin: Settings (⚙️) > Apps and sales channels > My AskAI > ⋯ > Uninstall Your account and all associated data will be deleted within 48 hours of uninstalling.
