The Programming tab is where you build the actual content lineup for your channel. Tunarr treats the lineup as a continuously looping playlist — once every item has played, it starts over from the beginning. You can mix content types freely: TV show episodes, movies, music videos, and custom shows can all coexist in the same channel. After populating the lineup here, use the Scheduling Tools to reorder items, set time slots, and create a more dynamic broadcast feel.

Adding Your First Content

1

Open the Programming tab and click ADD MEDIA

Navigate to your channel, open the Programming tab, and click the ADD MEDIA button. A media browser panel will appear.
2

Select a library

Choose which media library you want to pull content from. Tunarr will display all connected media sources — Plex libraries, Jellyfin libraries, and any local sources you have configured.
3

Browse and select content

You have granular control over exactly how much of a show or movie collection to add:
  • Add entire series — Find the show in the list and click ADD SERIES to queue every episode from every season in one click.
  • Add a specific season — Expand the show by clicking the caret (▶) on the left, then click ADD ALL on any season you want to include.
  • Add individual episodes — Expand the season by clicking its caret, then click ADD EPISODE next to each episode you want.
  • Add a movie — Navigate to your Movies library and click ADD MOVIE next to each film.
4

Review and confirm your selections

Expand the summary panel on the right side of the media browser to see a list of everything you have queued. When you are satisfied, click ADD ITEMS to save the selection to your channel lineup.

Default Ordering

When content is first added, Tunarr orders the lineup alphabetically by show name. Episodes within each show are placed in proper season order — specials first, followed by Season 1 through the final season in air-date order. In a channel with two shows, the first show will play in its entirety before the second show begins.
To create a more varied and authentic broadcast experience, use the Scheduling Tools after adding content. Tools like the Time Slot editor and Block Shuffle let you interleave shows, set fixed start times, and randomize episode selection.

Supported Content Types

Tunarr supports several content types within a channel lineup:
TypeSource
TV Show EpisodesPlex, Jellyfin, Emby, or local media
MoviesPlex, Jellyfin, Emby, or local media
Music VideosLocal media source
Custom ShowsManually assembled from arbitrary video files via the Library → Custom Shows section

How the Lineup Loops

Tunarr’s lineup is a finite ordered list that repeats. When the last item in the schedule finishes, playback wraps back to the first item and continues. The channel’s start time (set on the Properties tab) determines at what point in the loop the channel is considered to have “begun,” which in turn controls the current position in the schedule for any new viewer who tunes in.
If you want certain content to air at predictable clock times (e.g., a nightly movie at 9 PM), use Time Slots rather than relying on the natural loop order. Time Slots pin content to specific hours of the day and automatically pad gaps with flex time.
