Watermarks are image overlays composited into a channel’s video output by FFmpeg at stream time. They are a classic feature of broadcast television — the small network logo that sits in a corner of the screen — and Tunarr supports them on a per-channel basis. There are several ways to customize watermark behavior; the settings below give you fine-grained control over how and when the overlay appears.

Watermark Settings

Watermark Period

This value fades a channel’s watermark in and out every N minutes. Setting a period creates an intermittent overlay that mimics the behavior of real broadcast network bugs, which often disappear between programs and reappear at the top of each hour.

Watermark on Leading Edge

When using intermittent watermarks, this option controls whether the watermark begins in a visible (true) or hidden (false) state at the start of each program segment.

Total Watermark Duration

This option controls the absolute maximum number of minutes the watermark can be displayed for a given program segment. Its value takes precedence over the Watermark Period but does not disable it. For example, you could configure a Watermark Period of 5 minutes with a Total Watermark Duration of 45 minutes. On a one-hour program, the watermark will fade in and out for the first 45 minutes and then be hidden for the final 15 minutes.

Overrides

Global settings such as target resolution, bit rate, and buffer size can be overridden per channel on this tab.
