Workspaces are the top-level organizational unit in Featul. Each workspace provides a complete, isolated environment for collecting and managing user feedback, with its own subdomain, branding, and team members.

What is a Workspace?

A workspace represents your product, company, or project. It contains all your feedback boards, roadmaps, changelogs, and team settings in one central location. Each workspace operates independently with:
  • Unique subdomain: Access your workspace at your-workspace.featul.com
  • Custom branding: Configure logos, colors, and themes
  • Team collaboration: Invite members with different permission levels
  • Isolated data: Keep feedback separate across different products or brands

Creating a Workspace

When you first sign up for Featul, you’ll be guided through creating your first workspace:
  1. Choose a unique slug (e.g., acme for acme.featul.com)
  2. Enter your workspace name
  3. Configure initial settings
  4. Set up your first feedback board
Workspace slugs are reserved once chosen and cannot be changed. Choose carefully!

Workspace Settings

General Settings

Workspace Name: The display name shown throughout the interface and to your users. Subdomain: Your unique workspace-slug.featul.com address where users access your feedback portal. Timezone: Set your workspace timezone for accurate timestamps on posts, comments, and changelog entries.

Branding & Appearance

Customize your workspace to match your brand identity:
  • Logo: Upload a custom logo displayed in the navigation
  • Primary Color: Set your brand color (hex format)
  • Theme: Choose from light, dark, or system-based themes
  • Hide Branding: Remove “Powered by Featul” footer (Professional plan)
Consistent branding makes your feedback portal feel like a natural extension of your product.

Custom Domains

For a fully white-labeled experience, connect your own domain:
  1. Navigate to workspace settings
  2. Enter your desired custom domain (e.g., feedback.yourcompany.com)
  3. Add the required DNS records:
    • CNAME record pointing to origin.featul.com
    • TXT record for domain verification
  4. Wait for DNS propagation and verification
Once verified, your workspace will be accessible at both your custom domain and the Featul subdomain.
Custom domains require Professional plan. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate.

Team Management

Workspaces support collaborative team workflows with role-based permissions.

Team Roles

Owner: Full control over the workspace, including billing and deletion. Each workspace has one owner. Admin: Can manage workspace settings, boards, members, and all content. Admins have nearly all permissions except billing management. Member: Can moderate content, respond to feedback, and manage assigned tasks. Standard role for team members. Viewer: Read-only access to internal workspace content. Perfect for stakeholders who need visibility without editing permissions.

Inviting Team Members

  1. Go to workspace settings → Team
  2. Click “Invite Member”
  3. Enter the email address
  4. Select a role
  5. Send the invitation
Invited users receive an email with a secure invitation link. Invitations expire after a set period for security.

Custom Permissions

Beyond roles, you can grant granular permissions to team members:
  • Manage Workspace: Edit workspace settings
  • Manage Billing: Access subscription and payment settings
  • Manage Members: Invite and remove team members
  • Manage Boards: Create, edit, and delete feedback boards
  • Moderate All Boards: Review and moderate posts across all boards
  • Configure Branding: Update logos, colors, and themes
Use custom permissions to create specialized roles like “Content Moderator” or “Billing Admin”.

Workspace Access Control

Public vs. Private Workspaces

Control who can view and submit feedback: Public Boards: Anyone can view and submit feedback (with optional anonymous posting) Private Boards: Only workspace members can access and contribute Mixed Access: Configure different visibility levels per board within the same workspace

Anonymous Feedback

Enable anonymous submissions on public boards to lower barriers for user feedback. Anonymous users are tracked via browser fingerprints to prevent spam and duplicate votes while preserving privacy.

Workspace Plans

Each workspace operates on a plan tier:
  • Free: Basic features for getting started
  • Starter: More boards, members, and advanced features
  • Professional: Unlimited resources, custom domains, and white-labeling
Plan limits are enforced at the workspace level. Upgrade anytime as your needs grow.

Use Cases

Single Product Company

Create one workspace for your product with multiple boards for different feedback categories (bugs, features, improvements).

Multi-Product Organization

Use separate workspaces for each product line to maintain clear boundaries and different branding.

Agency or Consultancy

Create dedicated workspaces for each client, with isolated teams and custom domains.

Internal Tools

Set up private workspaces for collecting internal feedback from employees on company initiatives.

Best Practices

Start Simple: Begin with one workspace and a few boards. Expand as your feedback process matures.
Consistent Branding: Configure your logo and colors early to build trust with users.
Clear Naming: Choose workspace slugs that clearly identify your product or brand.
Deleting a workspace permanently removes all boards, posts, comments, and data. This action cannot be undone.
