Movie Profiles

All movie profiles target Radarr and use custom_formats_radarr for their scoring. They share a tiered release group scoring system — from WEB Tier 01 down through Bluray tiers — and all enforce language: must_original.

x265 (HD) releases are explicitly denied on all sub-2160p movie profiles with a score of -10000. These releases are typically re-encodes rather than true source encodes. If you prefer x265, set the “x265 (HD)” custom format score to 0 on your selected profile. See the TRaSH Guides for the reasoning behind this decision.

Movies 1080p

This profile focuses on streaming optimized sources with little to no transcoding needed and is recommended for the average user or if you do not use a dedicated streaming box. (i.e. AppleTV, NVIDIA Shield, etc)

This profile is recommended for a set-it-and-forget-it setup.

This profile will prefer streaming optimized releases groups like BHDStudio and hallowed.

This profile does not allow releases with HD Audio to ensure direct-play compatibility.

The following formats receive a score of -10000 and will prevent any release from being grabbed:3D, AV1, B&W, Bad Naming Scheme, Banned Groups, Banned Groups (Title), BR-DISK, Dolby Vision WEB-DL, DTS-HD HRA, DTS-HD MA, DTS-X, Extras, Non Retail HDR, SDR (no WEBDL), Sing Along, TrueHD, TrueHD Missing, Upscaled

HD audio formats (TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HRA, DTS-X) are fully denied — not just WEB-sourced variants — to guarantee direct-play on all devices without transcoding.

Movies 2160p

SDR (no WEBDL) is denied to ensure all 4K releases have at least an HDR fallback for broad device compatibility. Dolby Vision WEB-DL is also denied because Dolby Vision in WEB-DL sources can cause playback issues on non-DV devices.

Movies 1080p HQ

This profile is like the primary Movie profile, but with merged source qualities. This results in higher-quality, WEB releases being preferred. This usually results in higher-quality audio, higher video bitrates and 30% larger file size.

This profile is recommended for a set-it-and-forget-it setup.

This profile will fall back to streaming optimized releases groups like BHDStudio and hallowed.

This profile will allow HD audio like TrueHD, DTS-X, etc but only if the source is WEB-DL

The HQ profiles deny HD audio only from WEB sources (e.g., TrueHD (WEB), DTS-HD MA (WEB)). HD audio from Blu-ray encodes is permitted, enabling higher-fidelity audio while still blocking problematic streaming-sourced audio tracks.
