Todobar gives you a wide set of appearance controls so the sidebar fits naturally into your desktop environment. You can pick a theme preset, switch between light and dark mode, dial in surface opacity, adjust how dense the task list feels, and round or sharpen the panel corners — all without restarting the app.

Light and dark mode

Click the sun or moon icon in the command rail to toggle between Light and Dark mode. Todobar immediately switches both the panel surface and all preset colours to match the selected mode. Each mode has its own set of five presets. When you switch modes, Todobar keeps your previously selected preset for that mode, so flipping back and forth does not reset your style choices.
You can switch presets at any time without affecting your tasks, section order, or layout settings. Presets only control colours and surface style.

Theme presets

Todobar ships with ten presets — five for light mode and five for dark mode. Select a preset from the Settings panel under the Appearance section.

The style ID listed above is the value stored in visualStyle in your settings. Only presets that belong to the active mode are available for selection at any given time.

Surface opacity

The Surface opacity slider controls how transparent the panel background is. A lower value lets your wallpaper or app windows show through slightly; the maximum keeps the surface fully opaque.
  • Range: 86 – 100 %
  • Default: 96 %
Open Settings and drag the opacity slider to your preferred value. The panel updates live as you drag.

Task density

Three sliders let you adjust how much vertical space each task row takes up. Row height sets the minimum height of each task row in pixels.
  • Range: 40 – 62 px
  • Default: 44 px
Row gap controls the spacing inserted between consecutive task rows.
  • Range: 4 – 14 px
  • Default: 7 px
Text size sets the font size for task labels.
  • Range: 11 – 14 px
  • Default: 12.5 px
Increase all three for a comfortable reading experience on large displays, or tighten them on smaller screens to fit more tasks in view at once.

Panel corner radius

The Corner radius setting controls how rounded the panel corners appear.
  • Range: 12 – 28
  • Default: 18
A higher value gives the panel a softer, more pill-like look. A lower value produces a sharper, more rectangular shape.

Completed task visibility

Toggle Show completed tasks in Settings to choose whether finished tasks remain visible in the list or are hidden automatically. When hidden, completed tasks are still stored — re-enabling the toggle brings them back.
  • Default: on (completed tasks visible)
