Todobar is designed to stay at the edge of your screen and stay out of the way until you need it. You can dock it to the right, left, or top edge, reposition the handle anywhere along that edge, and tune the panel width and animation speed to suit your monitor and workflow.

Dock edge

Open Settings and choose your preferred edge under Dock edge. The sidebar reattaches immediately — no restart needed.
The sidebar docks to the right edge of the screen. The handle sits on the right side and the panel slides in from the right. This is the default layout and works well on wide monitors where you want quick access without covering left-aligned content.
Selecting Bottom as a dock edge in earlier versions of the app is automatically remapped to Top in the current release. Bottom dock is not supported as a distinct layout in v0.x.

Handle position

The handle is the small strip that peeks out from the docked edge. You can move it anywhere along the edge in two ways:
  • Drag: click and drag the handle up or down (or left and right on the top edge) to reposition it freely.
  • Settings slider: open Settings and adjust the Handle Y slider. The value is a percentage of the edge length — 0 % places the handle at the start of the edge, 50 % centres it, and 100 % places it at the far end.
Handle Y range: 0 – 100 % · Default: 50 %

Panel width

The Panel width setting controls how wide the main task panel is when open. After changing the value, press Apply to confirm it.
  • Range: 320 – 560 px
  • Default: 400 px
On the top dock, Todobar uses twice the configured width (minimum 720 px, maximum 1120 px) to make efficient use of the horizontal space.

Tab (handle) width

The Tab width setting controls the thickness of the visible handle strip that stays on screen when the panel is closed.
  • Range: 26 – 88 px
  • Default: 42 px
A narrower tab is less intrusive; a wider tab is easier to click, especially on touch-capable screens.

Handle height

The Handle height setting controls the length of the visible handle strip along the docked edge.
  • Range: 56 – 176 px
  • Default: 84 px
A taller handle is easier to grab and drag. A shorter handle takes up less screen real estate.

Motion speed

The Motion speed setting controls how long the open and close animation takes in milliseconds.
  • Range: 140 – 360 ms
  • Default: 230 ms
Lower values make the panel snap open and closed quickly. Higher values give a slower, more deliberate slide. If you prefer no visible animation, set the value close to 140 ms.
