Custom lists let you organise tasks by project, area of focus, or any category that makes sense for how you work. Each list is independent, can be collapsed or expanded, and can be pinned to the Today view so you can track it alongside your daily tasks. Todobar starts you off with a default General list that you can use right away or rename to something more specific.

What custom lists are

A custom list is a named group of tasks stored separately from your Today tasks and Calendar tasks. Lists live in the Lists section of the sidebar. You can have as many lists as you need, and each list supports the same task actions — add, complete, prioritise, edit, set reminders, and delete.

Creating your first custom list

1

Open the Lists section

Press Alt+T or click the edge handle to open Todobar, then click the Lists icon in the command rail to navigate to the Lists section.
2

Click the add button

Click the + button at the top of the Lists section to create a new list.
3

Enter a list name

Type a name for your list in the title input field that appears.
4

Confirm the list name

Press Enter to create the list. It appears immediately in the Lists section, ready for tasks.
5

Add your first task

Click the task input at the bottom of your new list, type a task title, and press Enter to add it.

Renaming a list

Click the pencil icon next to a list title to enter rename mode. Edit the title in place, then press Enter to save. Press Esc to cancel without saving.

Deleting a list

Click the trash icon next to a list title. Todobar asks you to confirm before deleting the list and all its tasks. This action cannot be undone, so review the confirmation carefully before proceeding.

Collapsing and expanding a list

Click the list title or its collapse chevron to collapse or expand the task list beneath it. Collapsed lists still appear in the sidebar with their title visible, so you can see all your lists at a glance without scrolling through all their tasks.

Pinning a list to Today

Pin a custom list to Today when you want to track a project or goal group alongside your daily tasks. The list appears as a separate group in the Today view, complete with its own task list and progress context.
Click the pin icon on any custom list to toggle its visibility in Today. A pinned list shows up at the bottom of the Today section as a goal group. Unpinning removes it from Today but keeps the list and all its tasks intact in the Lists section.

The default General list

Todobar creates a General list automatically on first launch. You can use it as-is for miscellaneous tasks, rename it to something more meaningful, or leave it empty while you build out more specific lists. The General list behaves identically to any list you create yourself.
