Installing Todobar takes just a few steps. You download a release artifact from GitHub, run the installer for your platform, and the app starts on first launch. There is no account setup and no configuration required before you see the sidebar for the first time. Go to the GitHub Releases page and download the file that matches your platform. The current stable release is v0.1.5.
Windows users can choose between a standard setup executable and an MSI installer for managed deployments.
1

Download the installer

From the Releases page, download Todobar_<version>_x64-setup.exe. If your environment requires an MSI, download Todobar_<version>_x64_en-US.msi instead.
2

Run the installer

Double-click the .exe file and follow the on-screen prompts. The NSIS installer places Todobar in your user’s application folder and creates a start menu entry.
3

Launch Todobar

Todobar starts automatically after installation and appears as a small handle on the right edge of your screen. You will also see a tray icon in the system tray.
4

Toggle the sidebar

Click the edge handle, or press Alt+T from any app, to open the task panel. Press Esc or Alt+T again to close it.
The Windows release is built locally and in GitHub Actions. It is the most thoroughly tested platform at this stage.

After installation

Once Todobar is running, the edge handle is visible on your screen. From there you can:
  • Click the handle to open and close the panel.
  • Drag the handle along the docked edge to reposition it.
  • Use the tray icon (Windows) or menu-bar icon (macOS) to toggle Todobar, open Settings, or quit.
  • Open Settings from the command rail to change the dock edge, theme, panel width, and other preferences.
See the quickstart guide for a walkthrough of your first session.
