The Today section is the default view you see when you open Todobar. It gives you a single focused list of tasks for the current day, sorted by priority so your most important work stays at the top. A progress bar at the top of the section shows you at a glance how much of today you have already completed.

Progress bar

The progress bar below the Today heading reflects the percentage of today’s tasks you have marked as done. As you complete tasks, the bar fills automatically — no manual update needed.

Adding your first task

1

Open the Today section

Press Alt+T or click the edge handle to open Todobar. The Today section appears at the top of the panel by default.
2

Type your task

Click the task input field at the top of the Today section and type a title for your task.
3

Set an optional reminder

If you want a reminder, click the date-time field next to the input and pick a date and time before you submit.
4

Add the task

Press Enter to add the task. It appears immediately in the list at the default normal priority.

Priority levels

Every task has one of three priority levels. New tasks default to normal. Click the priority icon on any task to cycle through the levels in order.
PriorityPosition in listWhen to use
focusShown firstYour most important task for the day
normalShown in the middleEveryday work items (default)
laterShown lastLow-urgency items you want to keep visible
The priority cycle goes: normalfocuslaternormal.

Completing a task

Click the circle icon on the left side of any task row to mark it as done. A completed task moves to the bottom of the list. You can toggle a task back to incomplete by clicking the circle again. To hide completed tasks from the list, go to Settings and turn off Show completed.

Editing a task title

Click the pencil icon on a task row to enter edit mode. Update the title in place and press Enter to save, or press Esc to cancel without saving.

Deleting a task

Click the trash icon on a task row to delete it. A short confirmation step prevents accidental deletions. If you want to skip the confirmation and delete immediately, hold Shift while clicking the trash icon.

Collapsing the Today section

Click the Today section heading to collapse or expand the task list. Collapsing is useful when you want to focus on the Calendar or Lists sections without scrolling past your daily tasks.

Pinned custom lists as goal groups

Custom lists you have pinned to Today appear below your daily tasks as separate goal groups. This lets you track progress on a project or theme alongside your day’s tasks without leaving the Today view. See Organising work with Todobar custom lists for details on how to pin a list.
