Podcast content is served by YouTube Music. An active connection to YouTube Music is required to load new episodes and show details. Downloaded episodes are available offline.
Finding podcasts
Search
Use the main search bar and search for a podcast name. Switch to the Podcasts result tab if one appears, or tap a podcast show result to open its episode list.
Explore
Browse the Explore section from the home screen to discover trending and featured podcasts from YouTube Music.
Saving a podcast to your library
When you open a podcast show page, tap the Save button (bookmark icon) to add it to your library. Saved podcasts appear in Library → Podcasts → Episodes tab under your subscribed shows. The podcast is stored in the localpodcast database table. The bookmarkedAt field is set when you save it, and cleared when you remove it. Metrolist syncs saves and removals with YouTube Music using the likePlaylist API.
Subscribing to a podcast channel
In addition to saving a podcast show, you can subscribe to the podcast’s YouTube Music channel (added in v13.3.0). Subscribed channels appear in Library → Podcasts → Channels tab.1
Open a podcast show page
Search for or browse to a podcast and tap it to open the show page.

Subscribe to the channel
Tap the Subscribe button on the show page. This follows the podcast’s host channel on YouTube Music.

View subscribed channels
Go to Library → Podcasts and tap the Channels chip to see all channels you have subscribed to. Tap any channel to open its artist page on YouTube Music.
The Podcasts screen
Tap Podcasts in the Library filter chips to open the podcast section. It has three sub-filters:- Episodes
- Channels
- Downloaded
Shows two automatic playlists at the top — New Episodes (your RDPN feed from YouTube Music) and Episodes for Later (your saved episodes queue) — followed by a list of podcast shows you have saved to your library. Tap any show to open its full episode list.
Playing podcast episodes
Playing an episode works the same way as playing a song:- Tap an episode in a show’s episode list to start playback and queue the remaining episodes.
- Tap a downloaded episode in the Downloaded tab to play it from device storage.
- Playback resumes from where you left off — the
playbackPositionfield in the database tracks your position per episode. - Background playback, sleep timer, and all other player features work with podcast episodes.
Downloading episodes
Long-press any episode or tap ⋮ and select Download. Downloaded episodes appear in the Downloaded tab of the Podcasts screen and can be played without an internet connection.Pinning a podcast to speed dial
You can pin any saved podcast show to speed dial for quick access from the home screen.1
Open the Podcasts Episodes tab
Go to Library → Podcasts → Episodes.

Tap ⋮ on a podcast show
Tap the three-dot menu next to any saved podcast show.

Tap Pin to speed dial
Select Pin to speed dial. The podcast is stored in the
speed_dial_item table with type = "PLAYLIST".Removing a podcast from your library
Tap ⋮ on any saved podcast show in the Episodes tab and select Remove from library. This clears thebookmarkedAt field locally and calls the YouTube Music API to unsave the podcast. It does not unsubscribe you from the channel.
Logged-out users
Podcast browsing and playback work even when you are not logged in to a YouTube Music account. This was fixed in v13.3.0. You can search for and play podcasts, save episodes for later, and download episodes without an account.When not logged in, saves and subscriptions are stored only on your device and are not synced to YouTube Music.
