Welcome to Bards RPG

Bards RPG is a Minecraft mod that introduces a unique musical magic class to your adventure. As a Bard, you’ll wield instruments of power, cast melodic spells, and support your allies through the art of music.

Your first steps

1

Craft your spell book

Begin your journey by crafting a Bard Spell Book. This essential item allows you to learn and cast Bard spells. The spell book grants access to four core Bard spells:
  • Troubadour’s Minuet - Reduces damage taken
  • Magical Ballad - Deals arcane damage and buffs allies
  • Encore - Healing and support magic
  • Army’s Paeon - Buffs nearby allies when you damage enemies
2

Choose your weapon type

Bards have access to three distinct weapon categories, each serving a different playstyle:

Rapiers

Fast, elegant swords that can cast spells on hit.
  • Attack speed: -2.0
  • Playstyle: Melee combat with spell casting
  • Start with: Golden Rapier or Iron Rapier

Lutes

Damage-focused staves that balance arcane and healing power.
  • Attack speed: -3.0
  • Spell Power: +3.5 Arcane and Healing (T1)

Craft or find your armor

Bard armor provides unique bonuses focused on mobility and spell power.Entertainer’s Garb (Tier 1):
  • Crafted from wool
  • +15% Arcane and Healing spell power per piece
  • +3% movement speed per piece
  • Full set: +60% spell power, +12% movement speed
You can also find Bard equipment in loot chests throughout your world.
4

Learn your first spell

Open your Bard Spell Book and learn Magical Ballad, a versatile tier 2 spell that:
  • Fires a projectile that pierces up to 3 enemies
  • Deals arcane damage (0.75x spell power coefficient)
  • Applies the Ballad effect to allies hit
  • Ballad buff: Increases attack damage and spell power by 2.5% per stack
  • Cooldown: 10 seconds
  • Exhaust: 0.2
5

Practice channeling

Many Bard spells use channeling mechanics. When casting Magical Ballad:
  • Hold the cast button for up to 4 seconds (20 ticks)
  • You can move at 1.5x normal speed while channeling
  • Music note particles appear at your feet
  • Release to launch the projectile

Understanding Bard mechanics

Dual spell schools

Bards uniquely benefit from both Arcane and Healing spell power:
  • Most Bard weapons provide equal bonuses to both schools
  • Spells often use arcane for damage and healing for buffs
  • This dual nature makes Bards versatile in any party composition

Status effects

Bards specialize in musical buffs: Ballad - Increases attack damage and spell power by 2.5% per stack (max 3 stacks) Troubadour’s Minuet - Reduces damage taken by 5% Army’s Motivation - Triggered by damaging enemies with melee, arrows, or spells while Army’s Paeon is active

Movement and mobility

Unlike heavy armor classes, Bard equipment emphasizes speed:
  • Each armor piece grants movement speed bonuses
  • Channeling spells often allow movement
  • Higher tier armor provides even more mobility

Next steps

Once you’ve mastered the basics:
  • Explore Progression to learn about higher tier equipment
  • Check Configurations to customize your Bard experience
  • Experiment with different weapon types to find your playstyle
  • Team up with other classes to maximize your support potential

Tips for new Bards

  • Position carefully: Bard armor offers low protection, so use your mobility to avoid damage
  • Stack buffs: Apply Ballad effects to yourself and allies before major fights
  • Mix damage types: Combine spell damage with melee attacks using rapiers
  • Support first: In groups, prioritize keeping allies buffed over dealing damage
  • Manage cooldowns: Plan your spell rotations to maintain constant buff uptime
