Requirements

Before installing Bards RPG, ensure you have:
  • Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1
  • Either Fabric Loader 0.17.2+ or NeoForge 21.1.201+
  • At least 4GB of RAM allocated to Minecraft
Bards RPG is built for Minecraft 1.21.1. Other versions are not supported.

Choose your mod loader

Bards RPG supports both Fabric and NeoForge. Choose the installation method that matches your preferred mod loader.

Install Fabric Loader

1

Download Fabric Installer

Visit fabricmc.net and download the Fabric installer for your operating system.
2

Run the installer

Open the installer and select Minecraft version 1.21.1. Click “Install” to set up the Fabric profile.
3

Launch Minecraft

Open the Minecraft Launcher and select the “fabric-loader-1.21.1” profile. Launch the game once to generate the mods folder.

Download these required mods and place them in your .minecraft/mods folder:
  • Fabric API (version 0.115.6+1.21.1)

Install Bards RPG

1

Download the mod

Download bards_rpg-fabric-1.0.0-1.21.1.jar from CurseForge or Modrinth.
2

Place in mods folder

Move the downloaded JAR file to .minecraft/mods/
3

Launch the game

Start Minecraft with the Fabric profile. Bards RPG should appear in the mods list.
On Windows, press Win + R, type %appdata%\.minecraft\mods, and press Enter to open your mods folder.

Verify installation

To confirm Bards RPG is installed correctly:
1

Check the mods list

In the main menu, click “Mods” (Fabric) or access the mods list through the main menu (NeoForge). Look for “Bards RPG class” in the list.
2

Check Creative inventory

Open a Creative world and search for “bard” in the item search. You should see rapiers, lutes, lyres, and bard armor sets.
3

Look for the Bard spell book

Search for “bard” in Creative mode. You should find a Bard spell book item that contains all bard spells.
If you can find bard items and the spell book, installation was successful!

Troubleshooting

This usually means a required dependency is missing. Check that you’ve installed all core dependencies listed above. Review your latest.log file in .minecraft/logs/ for specific missing mod errors.
Verify that Bards RPG is actually loaded by checking the mods list. If it’s not there, ensure you downloaded the correct version (Fabric vs NeoForge) and that it’s in the mods folder.
Ensure all mods are for Minecraft 1.21.1. Bards RPG requires exact version matches for Spell Engine, Spell Power, and More RPG Library.
Allocate at least 4GB of RAM to Minecraft. In the launcher, edit your profile and adjust JVM arguments: -Xmx4G (or higher like -Xmx6G for 6GB).

Configuration

After installation, Bards RPG generates configuration files in .minecraft/config/bards_rpg/:
  • equipment.json - Customize weapon and armor stats
  • effects.json - Modify status effect attributes
  • tweaks.json - General mod behavior settings
  • villages.json - Village structure integration settings
You can use Cloth Config’s in-game GUI to edit these settings without manually editing JSON files.
