Apps in Crafted Gamz are not a single thing. Depending on the mode you are using, the word “app” refers to anything from a quick-access wrapper for a web tool on the Website mode landing page, to a fully installable Desktop application complete with its own window, dock pin, and launcher entry. Both forms are intentional: Website mode apps are designed for immediacy, letting you reach useful tools without navigating away from the main experience, while Desktop mode apps are designed for persistence, giving you a workspace that carries your setup from session to session. Understanding how apps work in each mode helps you get the most out of the platform.

Apps in Website Mode

In Website mode, apps appear as shortcuts and wrappers on the main landing experience. These are curated entries that give you fast access to a range of web tools, games, and utilities without leaving the Crafted Gamz interface. Clicking an app wrapper in Website mode loads the associated content directly inside the platform — it functions like a pre-configured quick-launch button. Website mode apps do not require installation or account sign-in to use. They are always visible from the landing page and are organized to be immediately accessible. This approach prioritizes speed: you land on the site, you see the apps, you click one. No additional steps are required.

Apps in Desktop Mode

Desktop mode elevates the app concept significantly. Instead of shortcuts, Desktop mode features a complete App Store with apps that can be installed, managed, and returned to across sessions. Once installed, an app becomes a persistent part of your Desktop environment — it appears in the launcher, can be pinned to the dock, and opens as a window within the Desktop shell. Desktop mode apps are organized into three categories:

App Categories

Game Apps

Browser games wrapped as installable Desktop apps. Installing a game app gives it a presence in your dock and launcher, so you can jump into it the same way you would open any other app — without navigating to the games library separately.

Internet Apps

Tools for web access and browsing, including proxy-related utilities and internet-facing tools that complement the platform’s built-in proxy and browser capabilities.

Utility Apps

Productivity and platform tools — including media apps, settings interfaces, and other utilities that help you configure and use your Desktop environment more effectively.

Managing Apps

Once apps are installed in Desktop mode, you have several ways to interact with them from your workspace. Pinning to the Dock Pin any installed app to the dock so it appears persistently at the bottom of your Desktop even when it is not running. Pinned apps are the fastest way to reopen something you use regularly. Opening from the Launcher The Desktop launcher lets you search all installed apps by name and open them immediately. If you have many apps installed, the launcher is faster than scanning the dock for a specific item. Uninstalling Apps Apps can be uninstalled through the Desktop App Store. Navigate to the store, find the app you want to remove, and uninstall it. The app is removed from your launcher, dock, and the Desktop environment. Unpinning from the Dock If you want to remove an app from the dock without fully uninstalling it, you can unpin it. The app remains installed and accessible through the launcher, but no longer appears in the dock.
The Desktop AI assistant can install, open, pin, unpin, and manage apps through natural language commands, so you do not have to navigate the App Store or launcher manually for common tasks. For example, you can ask the AI to “install the music app and pin it to my dock” and it will handle both steps. See AI Assistant for more detail on what the Desktop AI can do.
