Brewing is one of the core systems in Yeast ‘n Feast. Using the Keg block, you combine ingredients, yeast, and a tankard to produce mead — a drinkable item that grants a powerful mob effect when consumed. There are six base mead varieties split across three categories, each tied to a distinct combat or survival buff. Mead stacks to 8 and returns a Tankard when drunk.

The three mead categories

Every mead in Yeast ‘n Feast belongs to one of three flavour families. The category determines the mob effect the mead grants when you drink it.

Sweet meads

Grant Resistance II for 6:00. Reduce incoming damage — strong for tanking hits or exploring dangerous areas.

Sour meads

Grant Strength II for 6:00. Increase melee damage output — best for combat-heavy play.

Floral meads

Grant Regeneration II for 4:00. Rapidly restore health — ideal for recovery after tough fights.

How brewing works

All mead is produced inside the Keg, a craftable block with a dedicated GUI. You load up to three ingredient slots with the mead’s flavour components, place Yeast in the yeast slot, and a Tankard in the container slot. The Keg processes the recipe over time and deposits finished mead into the output slot.
1

Craft a Keg

Build the Keg at a crafting table. This also unlocks the Keg Stand advancement. See the Keg page for the full recipe and slot layout.
2

Gather ingredients

Collect the flavour ingredients for the mead you want to brew. Common inputs include honey, molasses, elderberries, hawthorn berries, rose hips, and thornberries. You also need Yeast and at least one Tankard.
3

Load the Keg and wait

Open the Keg GUI, fill the ingredient and dedicated slots, and wait for the progress bar to complete. Brew time is set per recipe — check JEI for exact durations.
4

Collect your mead

Take the finished mead from the output slot. Each batch fills one tankard, returning an empty Tankard when you drink it.

Advancements

Yeast ‘n Feast tracks your brewing progress through four advancements. Completing them all requires brewing every mead variety in the mod.
AdvancementCondition
Keg StandCraft a Keg to start brewing.
Sweet VictoryBrew all Sweet Meads.
Sour PowerBrew all Sour Meads.
Floral FinesseBrew all Floral Meads.
The three category advancements — Sweet Victory, Sour Power, and Floral Finesse — count brewed output, not just item collection. You need to actually produce each mead in a Keg, not receive it through other means.
