Cheese-making is one of the signature crafting systems in Yeast ‘n Feast. You use the Cheese Press block to produce cheese wheels from milk and rennet, then place the wheel block in the world and right-click it to take individual slices — exactly like cake. Four cheese varieties are available, each with a distinct potion effect when sliced and eaten.

The Cheese Press

The Cheese Press is a functional block crafted from planks and other materials at a crafting table. Place it in your base, then interact with it to open its inventory.
1

Gather ingredients

You need a Milk Bottle and Rennet as the core ingredients for every cheese variety. Rennet is crafted from thistle, and the Milk Bottle is filled from a cow. Additional ingredients (herbs, mushrooms, spices) vary by cheese type.
2

Load the Cheese Press

Place your ingredients into the Cheese Press. The press processes them over time, similar to a furnace or brewing stand.
3

Collect your cheese wheel

Once processing is complete, retrieve the cheese wheel item. It stacks to only 1, and placing it in the world creates the cheese wheel block.
4

Place and slice

Place the cheese wheel block like you would place a cake. Right-click the block to take one slice at a time. Each right-click removes one slice and adds the slice item to your inventory.
Cheese wheel items stack to 1. Plan your storage accordingly if you are producing cheese in bulk.

Cheese varieties

All cheese slices share nutrition 3 and saturation 0.6. The difference between varieties is entirely in their potion effects. There are two block sizes: L (Large, like LCheeseWheelBlock) and M (Medium, like MCheeseWheelBlock), which may affect how many slices a wheel provides.

Cheese Wheel

Slice: Cheese SliceNutrition: 3  |  Saturation: 0.6  |  Effect: NoneThe plain cheese wheel. No special effects — just a reliable, low-nutrition snack you can take one slice at a time. Good for replenishing hunger without wasting a full food item.

Freshwheel

Slice: Freshwheel SliceNutrition: 3  |  Saturation: 0.6Effect: Regeneration I for 4 seconds (100% chance)A fresh, soft cheese. Each slice grants a short burst of regeneration — useful for topping off health passively while exploring or building.

Duskwheel

Slice: Duskwheel SliceNutrition: 3  |  Saturation: 0.6Effect: Night Vision for 10 seconds (100% chance)An aged, dark-rind cheese. Each slice grants 10 seconds of night vision. Keep a duskwheel placed near your mine entrance and grab a slice before descending.

Sharpwheel

Slice: Sharpwheel SliceNutrition: 3  |  Saturation: 0.6Effect: Strength I for 6 seconds (100% chance)A sharp, aged variety. Each slice gives a brief Strength I boost. Taking a slice before a fight adds meaningful burst damage, especially with a sword.

Key ingredients

The Milk Bottle is a crafting ingredient for the Cheese Press and returns a glass bottle as a crafting remainder when used in recipes. It stacks to 16. When consumed directly, it removes one random harmful (non-beneficial) effect.
Rennet is crafted from thistle — a renewable plant found in the world or grown. Like the Milk Bottle, it returns a glass bottle as a crafting remainder. You will need a steady supply of both for large-scale cheese production.
The Duskwheel Skewer baked good also requires Duskwheel Slice as an ingredient. If you plan to craft skewers, keep a duskwheel block placed so you can take slices on demand. See Baked Goods for skewer details.
